Cursinho Premium Modal Verbs Prof: Lennon Picanço "Diferentemente dos outros verbos, os verbos modais não são flexionados nem quanto ao tempo verbal nem quanto à pessoa, com exceção do verbo have to. 1. I can cook very well. (Eu posso cozinhar muito bem.) 2. You can cook very well. (Você pode cozinhar muito bem.) 3. He can cook very well. (Ele pode cozinhar muito bem.) Isso se repete em todas as outras pessoas do discurso. Outra diferença que notamos está na intenção de sentido que uma pessoa (locutor) quer transmitir |1|. Os modal verbs servem para modalizar o discurso, revelando a intenção, o sentimento de quem fala. Podem expressar uma atitude mais ou menos forte. Por exemplo: 1. Teacher, may I go to the bathroom?
