Complexometria Apresentação da matéria de Química Analítica IQUI - 31 A complexometria é uma técnica analítica que quantifica íons metálicos em solução por meio de complexos com agentes como o EDTA, sendo essencial para analisar metais em água, alimentos e produtos industriais. Definição do Termo Surgida no final do século XIX, é uma técnica sensível e específica, amplamente usada em controle de qualidade e análises clínicas, consolidando-se como essencial na química analítica moderna. Desenvolvimento ao longo da História A complexometria se destacou no século XX com o EDTA, descoberto em 1935, que formava complexos estáveis com íons metálicos. Desde então, a técnica evoluiu e se tornou essencial na química moderna. Ácido etilenodiaminotetracético (EDTA) é o quelante mais usado em química analítica. Praticamente todos os elementos da tabela periódica podem ser analisados com EDTA, seja por titulação direta ou seqüência de reações indiretas. Teoria dos Complexos A formação de complexos metálicos depende de pH, concentração e competição de íons, afetando sua estabilidade. Reações de Formação de Complexos Agentes Complexantes Agentes complexantes, como o EDTA, ligam-se a íons metálicos formando complexos estáveis. Eles possuem alta especificidade, solubilidade e estabilidade em água. Outros exemplos incluem ácido cítrico, oxálico e aminoácidos. Agentes complexantes variam em estabilidade e especificidade. EDTA é ótimo para cálcio e magnésio, enquanto o ácido oxálico é melhor para ferro. A escolha depende das propriedades dos íons na amostra. Comparação entre Diferentes Agentes Características dos Agentes Complexantes Métodos Métodos Volumétricos e Não Volumétricos Titrimetria Complexométrica É um método de análise volumétrica que envolve a adição de um titulante até que o ponto de equivalência seja alcançado. Métodos volumétricos inclui a titulação direta, onde o titulante é adicionado diretamente à solução contendo o íon metálico.
