1. Simplified Summary of "Oliver Twist"
Oliver Twist is an orphan boy who lives in a workhouse (a place where children without parents lived) near
London. He is mistreated there, and one day, when he asks for more food, he is punished severely. After that, Oliver
is sold to a man namedMr. Sowerberry, who treats him badly. Tired of the abuse, he runs away to London.
In London, Oliver meets a boy called Dodger, who takes him to an old man named Fagin. Fagin leads a group
of boy thieves, but Oliver doesn’t understand what they do. During a robbery, Oliver is wrongly arrested, but a kind
man,Mr. Brownlow, saves him and takes him to his home.
Unfortunately, Bill Sikes and Nancy, two of Fagin’s associates, kidnap Oliver and force him to take part in a
robbery. Oliver is injured during the robbery and is taken in by Mrs. Maylie and her niece Rose, who take care of
him. There, he discovers that he has a half-brother,Monks, who wants to destroy his life.
In the end, Oliver is adopted by Mr. Brownlow, and he learns that Rose is his aunt. He finally finds a loving
family and lives happily.
