Written Project - Pedro Paulo Dos Santos Hello everyone! My name is Pedro Paulo dos Santos and in this part of my project I'm going to tell you a bit about my childhood and some details about my personal and professional career up to the present day. I was born in Itaquera, in Santa Marcelina hospital which is very close to here. My childhood can be divided into two parts. Firstly, I lived for ten years in Tiradentes City, which was always a complicated place because it was far from everything, especially our family, but because it had a lot of apartments, it was full of children. I had a lot of friends and next to my house there was a soccer field, which was the main place where I made friends. I remember that, from an early age, I used to play for teams in the neighborhood and that was a good part of living there, but the crime in the area was always very high and we had to move. So we moved back to Itaquera, I was already 11 years old and it was a very difficult part of life, because we didn't have a house to live in and we spent a few years living in a wooden shack, it was a period that made me understand (a few years later), some difficulties that my parents went through and we had to overcome together. An important part is that I'm the eldest of my siblings (Victor and Ana), I'm two years older than my brother and four years older than my sister, and we used to play together and that made it seem less difficult than it really was. In Itaquera, we lived on a plot of land owned by our family with other relatives such as uncles and cousins. It was always very crowded because it was close to businesses, schools and the hospital. Once again, the place that made my childhood very happy was the soccer field. There was a soccer school with lots of kids from the neighborhood, there I used to meet up with the school class and we used to train for a period of the day. The coach, JAILSON, was like a father to many young people in our community, he used to teach us much more than how to behave on the pitch, he was the first mentor I had in my career. Another place where I spent a lot of my childhood was the neighborhood where I still live today. I have a lot of memories of the games and parties when I was younger, we used to meet somewhere to talk about soccer or whatever was going on at the time. It was very important to go through all this to learn to value what I have today and even more for who I am or who I am becoming. Talking about my teenage years and my first steps towards a professional career, I had the privilege of working several jobs before starting any work with a formal contract. I worked as a bricklayer's helper, a profession I admire to this day, but which gets little credit for the work that is actually done, I was a leaflet delivery boy, I used to work hard in the sun and rain to deliver newspapers that were often thrown away as soon as we left them on people's doorsteps. I had the opportunity to be part of a small company that produced pieces of furniture, but the work was very repetitive, and the earnings were low, which made me give up quickly. There were a few other informal jobs until I really went in search of a formal opportunity, one with a formal contract. So, I started working in a metal factory near MOOCA. There I started as a general helper and had many tasks to perform during the working day. I remember the name of my foreman at the time, “Mr. João”. He taught me all the work in a few days and gave me the confidence to carry out more and more tasks in different areas. A very important point to mention is that in this company my father had been working for over twenty years and during the time I worked there, he was still working, but I was working in a different area than him. This company made me get to know different activities and different professions too. One of them caught my attention because he solved almost all the problems there. He was a gentleman called Joãozinho, who worked as a turner and was always called in to solve machine problems. I became curious about his training as a professional and how I could acquire that knowledge. It was then that I met the school that would change the course of my professional life and, I can say, my personal life as well. He had studied at SENAI, and at first, I didn't know SENAI, let alone how to study there, but luck was on my side and the company where I worked could send some employees to some free vacancies, so I went in search of one of those vacancies. First, I went to see the place and find out what courses they had. As the enrollment period was longer than I had imagined, I took the opportunity to sign up for a paid course, this one for professional development, “Mathematics applied to Mechanics”, a short course which would allow me to get to know the unit and explore the facilities. Soon after, I chose to take a course with a longer curriculum that would give me some insight into the machines that Joãozinho worked on. The “Conventional Machining Machine Operator” course. I took some courses during my time at the company and had the opportunity to work alongside my father, but unfortunately I didn't get to do any work with Mr. “Joãozinho” and those machines, But I learned about various courses and opportunities to improve my professional career, and it was at this point that I signed up for a technical training course in mechanics. I was called at the first attempt and soon after starting the technical course I went in search of a dream that had been created during this new journey, the dream of working for a multinational company. On the technical course, many of my friends were looking for an activity that I hadn't known about until I started the course - this was the “compulsory internship”. It was only at this point that I realized that I needed to have an activity in the area of the course in order to be accepted and get my degree. It was a major turning point in my career, as it forced me to talk to my boss/employer about the possibility of changing roles in the company, because until then I had been working in the production area, even though I was studying mechanics. Without this change, I wouldn't have my internship, and I wouldn't be entitled to my diploma. At that point, I was politely asked to find somewhere else to apply my knowledge. It was then that some internship opportunities came up at companies such as Bridgestone, Pirelli, Scania and Clariant. Of these companies, the one that most caught my eye was Scania. At the time, I already knew a little about the world of multinational companies and how well their employees earned and had career plans. That was the opportunity, but as fate would have it, of all the interviews I attended, only Clariant selected me. The company I knew the least about gave me the chance to fulfill my dream of working for a multinational. It was a year of learning and incredible challenges, but the internship had a deadline and along with it my dream. However, when I finished my internship, I was invited to continue with the company as a permanent employee. As a result, the challenges have increased, as have the responsibilities and remuneration. With this new career milestone, I kept updating my knowledge and started a technological degree, a course that three years later would make me a graduate in Industrial Maintenance, responsible for a maintenance sector in a chemical industry with many goals in mind and new challenges to achieve. I'm currently a maintenance planning technician at Clariant and I have over 10 years' professional experience and I'm known for delivering results in a large team. I ended up going on a bit long and I'll try to be more concise in the rest of the content. We need to talk a bit about the changes that all this has brought to my life. One thing that has changed a lot is my priorities. Before, when I was a child and had no idea what it was like to have to work and pay the bills, everything was easier. Nowadays I have to work a lot to support myfamily, and all this responsibility has become my priority. At this point in my life, I'm improving my knowledge of the English language, and I always try to keep up to date with technical reading and videos about changes in the professional market. Nowadays everything has become easier on the one hand, technology has made it easier for people who didn't have access to a lot of content, but it has also increased distraction, for me, the most important thing is not to lose focus on my goals, and so what becomes urgent is to always be aligned with this vision (in other words, to make the plan work). With this in mind, last month we went on a short family trip to renew our energy and enjoy a little of the journey we've been on so far together. My children saw the sea for the first time, and it was amazing, we had the opportunity to see the sunrise and sunset together, how little things are so important. However, because of this we were unable to travel to my wife's grandmother's house, I classify this trip as urgent because of her age, as she is older, we know that time goes faster and we may not have many opportunities to visit her. However, we are organizing to do this as soon as possible. From my point of view, the choices I've made to spend more time on each of the activities I do are well aligned, I've had time with my wife and children, I still manage to study and play with my friends. Of course, sometimes time seems short, but I'm learning to make choices count after I've chosen them. One of the activities in my life that I also consider to be urgent, and I do spend a lot of time doing it, is work. It's where I spend most of my weekdays and carry out my main professional projects. Recently it's been very difficult with some changes we have been going through, but all this change is bringing me a lot of autonomy at work and, if all goes well, a promotion. I hope that all these projects will lead me to my ultimate goal, which is to take care of and give the best to my family. Classification Activities Justification Important Care for my family. because my family is the most important thing I have. Urgent Improve my financial situation because that way I will be able to achieve my personal and professional goals Important but not urgent To care for my career. because my career will provide me with the security to achieve my goals. Urgent but not important Difficult, but today learning English would be that activity. because it's urgent, but at the moment I'm not being demanded for it.
