Topic: How to write a profile
An Academic Profile is a genre that aims to show, in your academic environment, a little bit of who you are. 
The text must have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 lines, and be sent to the Sigaa as an attachment (.doc).
Observe that you should use proper language, i.e., clear and objective English, while respecting grammar accuracy. 
Nevertheless, you don’t have to be too formal; simply try to use neutral, standard language and NEVER be offensive towards other people’s ideologies or use vulgar language.
Your personal profile should be composed of four topics, each one organized in one paragraph:
1. Personal identification;
2. Personality traits, habits and preferences;
3. Educational and academic background;
4. Professional experience and perspectives.
1) Personal identification: name, age, place of birth, who you live with. 
Example 1)
My name is Paulo Medeiros, I am 18 years old and I come from Mossoró, RN. Since I moved to Natal, I’ve lived with a flatmate.
Example 2) 
I am Larissa Santos, I am 17 and I was born in Natal, RN. I live with my mother and a sister.
Important: Do NOT use greetings (Hi! Hello! etc). 
2) Some (brief) information about your personality (one or two positive points, and one negative aspect) and your preferences (in sports, music, entertainment, food etc.). 
Notice that, because you’ll be talking about habits, the verbs must be in the Simple Present Tense. 
Also, try not to generalize (e.g., “I like music”), because it will not give your reader an idea of your preferences. Instead, give examples.
Examples:
2.1 - I am introvert (extrovert) / communicative (shy) / friendly / generous / optimistic / cheerful / sensitive / thoughtful)…, 
but sometimes I can be a bit / a little (unfriendly / selfish / mean / pessimistic / bad-tempered / insensitive…) 
2.2 - In my free time I like to....

...listen to music, especially (Heavy Metal / The Beatles / MPB / classical music / forró);
… go out with friends (to a bar / to a disco / to a restaurant). We usually go to Pepper’s Hall / Whiscritório / Camarões; 
… go to the cinema. My favorite kinds of films are comedies and documentaries / action movies / adventures / dramas. / My favorite actor is Anthony Hopkins / My favorite actress is Meryl Streep; 
… go to the gym / play football (volleyball, basketball…) / go cycling / go swimming / do jiu-jitsu / do karate; 
I enjoy Chinese food, especially Yakisoba. / I enjoy food from Bahia, especially “acarajé”. / I like food from Minas Gerais, especially “feijão tropeiro”. / I like American food, especially hamburger, fries and Coke.
3) Educational background
Say where you studied, and if you did any special courses (languages, Information Technology etc.). 
Don’t forget to mention the reasons why you chose to attend the Bachelor’s Course in Science and Technology. 
Remember that, unlike the topic on personal habits and preferences (in which you used verbs in the Simple Present), now you should use verbs in the Simple Past Tense (unless you’re still attending these courses / doing these activities).
 Example 1
 I studied at E. E. Guimarães Rosa in Caicó from 2009 to 2011. In 2012 I did Vestibular for Science in Technology at UFRN. I chose this course because I always liked computers and because the market is promising for professionals from the S&T field. Besides the BCT, I am currently studying English at SENAC.
 Example 2
I studied at IFRN in Natal from 2010 to 2012, where I majored in Food Technology. In 2013 I entered the Bachelor in Science and Technology undergraduate course at UFRN. I chose this course because I have always had a way with numbers.
4) Professional experience / Perspectives
Example 1
After I finish the BCT, I intend to follow Oil Engineering as a subsequent course. I have never worked, but in the future / In the long run I wish to become a civil servant in a big company.

Example 2
Since 2012 I have worked as an intern at a car dealership. After finishing the BCT, I intend to study Mechanical Engineering.
As you write your profile, remember to:
1. Write short, clear sentences;
2. Use connectives whenever possible;
3. Keep a balance between the different topics covered (for example, even you really like music, avoid talking too much about it);
4. Keep in mind the kind of public image you want to convey. Therefore, it is important to choose a suitable picture of yourself.
5. Search the Internet for difficult vocabulary (for example, how to say “Pretendo estudar para passar em um concurso público”).
