This study aims to approach structures and basic functions of the digestive system. A----------------------------- Abomaso (sm). Abomasum. [The abomasum of cattle (and sometimes sheep) is also a source of rennet. - O abomaso dos bovinos (e, por vezes, dos ovinos) é também uma fonte de coalheira] Absorver (v). Absorb. [The animals digest and absorb nutrientes in the gut – os animais digerem e absorvem nutrientes no intestino] Armazenar (v). Store. [The stomach store nutrients and stratic juice – O estômago armazena nutrientes e suco gástrico] B----------------------------- Boca (sf). Mouth. [Absorption is directly through the tongue and mouth - A absorção é feita diretamente através da língua e da boca] D----------------------------- Dente (sm). Tooth. [Without the root structure of a natural tooth present, the jawbone can shrink. - Sem a estrutura da raiz de um dente natural presente, o maxilar pode recuar.] (pl) Dentes - Teeth Digerir (v). Digest. [As their vital organs develop, they are capable of consuming and digesting more than just milk. - À medida que os órgãos vitais se vão desenvolvendo, eles passam a ser capazes de consumir e digerir mais do que apenas leite.] Duodeno (sm). Duodenum. [A portion of the stomach and the duodenum are excluded from the passage of food. - Uma parte do estômago e do duodeno ficam isolados da passagem do alimento.] E----------------------------- Esôfago (sm). Esophagus. [It is indicated to examine the upper digestive tract (oesophagus, stomach and duodenum). - É indicado para o exame do tubo digestivo superior (esôfago, estômago e duodeno).] Estômago (sm). Stomach. Small intestine. [The small intestine is part of the digestive tract which goes from the stomach to the large intestine. - O intestino delgado é a parte do tubo digestivo que vai do estômago até o intestino grosso.] Intestino grosso (sm). Large intestine. [The large intestine is the last part of the digestive tract. - O intestino grosso é a parte final do tubo digestivo. ] J----------------------------- Jejuno (sm). Jejunum. [Jejunum is the small intestine between the duodenum and the ileum. - Jejuno é a porção do intestino delgado compreendida entre o duodeno e o íleo.] L----------------------------- Lábio (sm). Lip. [Each of the two fleshy and moving parts that constitute the external contour of the mouth.- Cada uma das duas partes carnudas e móveis que constituem externamente o contorno da boca.] Língua (sf). Tongue. [It is a muscular organ related to the sense of taste, swallowing food and the formation of the phonemes of speech. - É um órgão muscular relacionado ao sentido do paladar, à deglutição dos alimentos e à formação dos fonemas da fala.] O----------------------------- Omaso (sm). Omasum. [It is the third division of the stomach of ruminants, located between the cap and the abomasum. - É a terceira divisão do estômago dos ruminantes, localizada entre o barrete e o abomaso.] P----------------------------- Pâncreas (sm). Pancreas. [The pancreas is a gland approximately 15 cm long part of the digestive and endocrine system. - O pâncreas é uma glândula de aproximadamente 15 cm de extensão fazendo parte do sistema digestivo e endócrino.] R----------------------------- Retículo (sm). Reticle. [One can distinguish two types of reticulum: rough and smooth. - Pode-se distinguir dois tipos de retículo: rugoso e liso.] Reto (sm). Rectum. [It is the final portion of the large intestine, which begins at the obtuse angle of the sigmoid handle and ends in the anal canal. - É a porção final do intestino grosso, a qual se inicia no ângulo obtuso da alça sigmóide e termina no canal anal.] Rúmen (sm). Rumen. [Divided into four compartments, the stomach is formed by rumen, reticulum, omasum and abomasum. - Dividido em quatro compartimentos, o estômago é constituído por rúmen, retículo, omaso e abomaso.] S----------------------------- Suco gástrico (sm). Gastric juice [The gastric acid produced in the stomach, is a clear liquid that acts on proteins. - O suco gástrico, produzido no estômago, é um líquido claro que atua sobre as proteínas.] Figura 2.
