ANDRÉ TREVISAN TARDIGRADA Nutrientes inorgânicos Além de grandes quantidades de carbono, oxigênio e nitrogênio, os organismos necessitam de outros micronutrientes para realizar suas funções vitais; Nitrogênio, fósforo, enxofre, potássio, cálcio, magnésio, ferro, sódio; As plantas adquirem esses nutrientes da água do solo em contato com suas raízes – fósforo limitante mesmo quando em grandes quantidades; Quantidade de minerais difere em cada ambiente aquático – Mar (sódio e cloro) e água doce (íons e cátions de cálcio, carbonetos e sulfatos). Potencial osmótico Durante a absorção de nutrientes para a obtenção de energia é gerada uma grande quantidade de íons nos tecidos dos seres vivos; Da mesma forma eles devem eliminar as substâncias metabolicamente inúteis; Tendência desses nutrientes é ir de encontro ao gradiente prevalecente; Íons e água obedecem à esse padrão através das membranas por osmose; Tendência de uma solução em atrair a água – potencial osmótico. Peixes de água doce (hipertônico) e água salgada (hipotônico); Bombeamento de íons numa direção ou outra através de diferentes superfícies corporais; Ambientes com concentrações extremas de sal; Great Salt Lake (20%), Mar Morto (30%); Camarão Artemia: excreta uma grande quantidade de sal para manter a concentração salina dos seus fluídos corporais menor do que a dos arredores. Luz Fonte primária de energia dos ecossistemas; Plantas absorvem energia luminosa e convertem em energia química – fotossíntese; Luz consiste em espectro de comprimentos de ondas – cores diferentes; Espectro visível – 400nm (violeta) e 700nm vermelho; Luz azul (comprimento de onda mais curto) apresenta mais energia que o vermelho; Luz ultravioleta do sol – danificação de tecidos – camada de ozônio. A absorção de energia radiante dependa da natureza da substância absorvente; Ex. água absorve fracamente a luz – transparente, tintas e pigmentos absorvem alguns comprimentos de ondas da região visível enquanto refletem outros; Carotenóides e clorofilas. Relação entre a intensidade luminosa e a taxa fotossintética das plantas; Ponto de compensação e ponto de saturação; Absorção de luz em ambientes marinhos e de água doce – zona eufótica e zona afótica. O meio ambiente térmico Muito da radiação absorvida pelos objetos é transformada em calor; Dinâmica de temperatura nos desertos; Radiação = absorção ou emissão de radiação eletromagnética; Condução = transferência de energia cinética do calor entre as substâncias em contato – água conduz mais calor que o ar – isolamento; Convecção = movimento de líquidos e gases de diferentes temperaturas, particularmente sobre superfícies através das quais o calor é transferido por condução. O empuxo e a viscosidade da água e do ar Devido a água ser mais densa que o ar – sustentação dos organismos; Estruturas corpóreas aumentam a densidade dos organismos – afundamento; Mecanismos que reduzem sua taxa de afundamento; Bexiga natatória em peixes; Algas ficam presas ao fundo por “ganchos” e estruturas cheias de gás em suas folhas elevam elas até a superfície. Algumas plantas tem uma concentração aumentada de óleo para facilitar a flutuação; O mesmo ocorre em peixes e outros organismos marinhos; Esqueleto reduzido ou com baixa musculatura; Esqueleto cartilaginoso auxilia na flutuação, mesmo que tubarões e raias não possuam bexiga natatória; Se por um lado a viscosidade auxilia na flutuação – dificulta o empuxo; Aves – pouca viscosidade e alto empuxo – gasto energético. Alometria e as consequências das dimensões corpóreas Alometria = estudo de proporção das várias partes do corpo de um organismo como consequência do crescimento; Constante alométrica – alometria positiva e alometria negativa; Ex. crescimento relativo em crustáceos. Morfologia associada a reprodução Exemplo: Uca vocator Caracteres sexuais secundários MATURIDADE SEXUAL MORFOLÓGICA Taxa simples de crescimento e Taxa específica de crescimento de partes do corpo LEI ALOMÉTRICA Para relacionar duas medidas que aumentam ao mesmo tempo Y=aXb Em um determinado intervalo de tempo uma das medidas pode aumentar diferentemente da outra, ou seja, em taxas diferentes. EQUILÍBRIO DE SAL E EQUILÍBRIO DE ÁGUA A manutenção de um desequilíbrio iônico entre o organismo e o ambiente circundante contra as forças físicas de osmose e difusão exige energia. Retenção de íons processo crítico... Tanto para organismos terrestres quanto de água doce e marinhos; Quem é quem? OUTRA ESTRATÉGIA: RETENÇÃO DE URÉIA (TUBARÕES E RAIAS). Tigriopus (Maxillopoda; Copepoda) Em plantas ocorre o mesmo problema... Rhizophora mangle (mangue-vermelho) - próprio de solos lodosos, com raízes aéreas; Laguncularia racemosa (mangue-branco) - encontrado em terrenos mais altos, de solo mais firme, associado a formações arenosas; Avicennia schaueriana (mangue-preto, canoé) Avicennia germinans Avicennia nitida Conocarpus erectus (mangue-de-botão) Equilíbrio de nitrogênio Excesso de nitrogênio na dieta de muitos carnívoros; Esses compostos devem ser eliminados após metabolizados; Mecanismo da amônia (NH3) em animais aquáticos e ureia em terrestres; Répteis (Aves + Crocodilia, Rhynchocephalia, Squamata e Testudinata) – eliminação de ácido úrico que se cristaliza a partir de uma solução e pode ser eliminado como uma pasta em grandes quantidades pela urina. TEMPERATURA E CONSERVAÇÃO DA ÁGUA Perda de água por evaporação é um grande problema para os organismos; Redução de atividade ou busca por locais com microclima mais propício para a manutenção de água. Relações água-planta Plantas obtêm água do solo por osmose – depende do potencial osmótico das raízes; Controle da quantidade de absorção da água por alteração na concentração de solutos nas células das raízes; Potencial osmótico maior nas folhas do que nos elementos do xilema e das raízes; C4 e a fotossíntese CAM Plantas necessitam de água para compensar as trocas gasosas com a atmosfera; O pouco CO2 da atmosfera e o aumento da pressão do vapor de água com o aumento da temperatura pioram a situação de retenção de água; Algumas plantas adaptadas ao calor excessivo – modificações fisiológicas e anatômicas. Dissipação do calor com densos pelos e espinhos em sua superfície; Produzem uma camada de ar parado que reduz a evaporação aprisionando o vapor; Cobrimento das folhas com uma substância cerosa impermeável à água escondendo os estômatos em fendas profundas; Em algumas plantas é observado um mecanismo bioquímico da assimilação do carbono que economiza água; Quando as plantas possuem água em abundância – Ciclo de Calvin – fotossíntese C3; Passagem do carbono ao ribulose-fosfato – quebrado em duas moléculas com 3 carbonos – disponibilização de um carbono para a glicose – 6 ciclos. As plantas C4, que vivem em ambientes secos e quentes, ao contrario das plantas C3 descritas anteriormente na fotossíntese “normal” produzem compostos orgânicos com 4 carbonos, em vez de 3, como primeiros produtos da fixação do CO2 durante o ciclo de Calvin-Benson; As plantas C4 possuem um ciclo de Calvin-Benson em tudo semelhante ao anteriormente descrito para as plantas C3, apenas com uma reação prévia extra que fixa o CO2 sem perder carbono para a fotorrespiração, aumentando a eficiência da fotossíntese. Sob condições extremas de elevada aridez e altas temperaturas, as plantas C4 como o milho e a cana do açúcar, mantém elevadas taxas de fotossíntese e crescimento, mesmo quando os seus estomas têm de fechar durante o dia para reduzir a perda de água. Algumas plantas estão adaptadas a ambientes áridos, com pouca água disponível. Estas plantas utilizam a enzima PEP carboxilase para fixar e acumular o CO2 enquanto evitam a perda de água durante o dia com elevadas temperaturas e muito baixa humidade relativa do ar; Algumas plantas suculentas da família das Crassuláceas, alguns cactos, e muitas angiospérmicas, utilizam como estratégia o metabolismo ácido das Crassuláceas – CAM; Para evitarem perdas de água por evaporação mantém os estomas fechados durante o dia. Para realizar a fotossíntese estas plantas abrem os estomas à noite e armazenam o CO2 capturado. O mecanismo CAM é semelhante ao das plantas C4: a primeira fixação do CO2 é num composto com 4 carbonos mas o processo de fixação inicial do CO2; Contudo o ciclo de Calvin-Benson ocorre separado no espaço (nas plantas em C4) ou no tempo (nas plantas CAM). A fixação CO2 ocorre durante a noite nas células do mesófilo, quando os estomas estão abertos e há muito pouca perda de água. Os produtos da fixação do CO2 são acumulados nos vacúolos das células do mesófilo. Durante o dia os compostos orgânicos de 4 carbonos são transportados para os cloroplastos onde são descarboxilados fornecendo o CO2 necessário para o ciclo de Calvin-Benson.
