You write poems well. Jack is a fast runner. Jack runs very fast. * * * Irregular form: The bus was late. I got up late yesterday. (not “lately”) * lately = recently Kate is a hard worker. Kate works hard. (not “works hardly”) * hardly = almost not * * * Irregular form: Not all words ending in –ly are adverbs. Some adjectives and verbs end in -ly too. Ex.: friendly (adjective); lonely (adjective); apply (verb); silly (adjective)
