FINAL VERSION OF THE PROBLEM AND SOLUTION ESSAY ABOUT THE TEXT “ARE WESTERN VALUES UNIVERSAL? IN PRAISE OF CULTURAL IMPERIALISM?” – ROTHKOPF, D. (1997)
Globalization has brought a consequence that the American values are being exported to other countries mostly because of their political and economic power. It may cause a cultural conflict in the future where nations would not allow the erase or contamination of their traditions and possibly would generate an uncomfortable situation on the international conjuncture. Fortunately, there are some possible actions to prevent that “Cultural War” and give to each culture your appropriated importance and place in the world.
One way would be invest in ideology, culture and values spread. Theater, cinema, television and all forms of entertainment are the largest base of dissemination of any value or information. Use it to show people the quality of local content is also a way to show that there are other options than Americans’ ones. Often rise of movies that are not from the US are branded as alternative content and has a very restricted visibility in places. And it also works with any type of ideology and cultural influence. The US is always seen as standard and do not need to be. There are all sorts of options that the proper nation can show to your citizens. This way you start to create in people the interest in see what their own culture can offer.

Another tactics could be show that the American values cannot fit in any culture. Religion, economic option and a lot of topics show that it is impossible to melt the American precepts with the already know structures of some nations. It is not a matter of let American values enter in the culture, is the possibility of substitution. It is important to notice that each concept created and disseminated in the nations has a lot of historical, territorial and political foundations. Determine that each State had your way to develop, arise and grow is a proof that it cannot be forgotten. And the trigger to increase the spotlight to diversity and value of preserve each country or place with your own culture and way of life is there.
The most effective way is in educating population. The prejudice and the will to accept and absorb a new ideology or way of living is the lack of recognize the importance of yours. The change begins when one is a child, and grows up in a system that shows your stories, have proud of it and wants to show to everyone how valuable and grand it is. The knowledge acquired and the message that a nation can pass are the key to change a whole generation. When a nation is really a nation, there is no cultural contamination that can affect it.
All things considered it is clear that is possible to let globalization link increasingly all nations and their cultures. The respect in other reality different from that one you are used to start in knowing it. Getting to know the wealth inside the values and culture of others, you discover that there are many other things in the world that are also important and precious to be valued. Then you appreciate even more what you have too and realize that world is more beautiful because of these differences. Sooner these actions taken, sooner we will live in a better place and more tolerant.
