A paixão pelas palavras e a habilidade para lidar com elas talvez seja o que destaca o tradutor literário de outros profissionais que lidam com a língua. Um dos conceitos mais difíceis envolvidos na tradução literária e, talvez, o mais complicado de ser percebido por tradutores de outras áreas, é que, em Literatura:
