WH Questions YES/NO Questions What DO you DO for a living? I’m a flight attendant DO you work in finance? Yes! I’m a businesswoman Where DO you WORK? I work in a bank DO you work in a bank? Yes, I do. I’m a secretary No, I don’t. What time DO you GO to work? I go to work at 7 o’clock DO you go to work early? Yes No What DO you WORK with? I work as a dentist DO you work as a dentist? Where DO you work? I’m a secretary in a bank Where está relacionado ao objeto “bank”, não ao sujeito “I’m”, logo, preciso do auxiliar. Who works in the bank? Exemplos: i · take vira taking · make vira making · organize vira organizing · write vira writing Verbos monossílabos CVC. Assim: i · set vira setting · get vira getting · stop vira stopping Verbos dissílabos com a última sílaba tônica. i Como 'begin' e 'prefer', cuja sílaba tônica é a última - '-gin' e '-fer' a última consoante deve ser dobrada ao receber -ing. Os quantificadores mais utilizados na comunicação em língua inglesa são: much, many, a lot, some, any, a few e a little. How much milk does your sister drink every day? (Quanto leite sua irmã bebe todo dia?) My brother doesn’t have much money. (Meu irmão não tem muito dinheiro.) Many Significa muitas/muitos. Utilizamos com countable nouns. Sarah took her brother to the library many times. (Sarah levou seu irmão à biblioteca muitas vezes.) He takes care of many dogs in his apartment. A lot of O a lot of é usado para descrever quantias grandes (mas não especificadas) de algo: My grandfather has a lot of money. (Meu avô tem muito dinheiro.) My aunt eats a lot of candies every week. (Minha tia come muitos doces toda semana) Some Pode significar algum ou um pouco de . Utilizamos some com substantivos incontáveis. Can I have some wine, please? Would you like some food? (Você gostaria de um pouco de comida?) Any Em sentenças positivas, any tem o significado de qualquer. I don’t have any dogs. (Eu não tenho nenhum cachorro.) You can have any laptop you like. (Você pode ter qualquer notebook que quiser) Can your brother-in-law speak any other language? (Seu cunhado consegue falar algum outro idioma?) A few Pode significar algum/algumas ou pouco/poucas. Usamos o a few com substantivos contáveis no plural. I stayed at my aunt’s house for a few days. Utilizamos o a little substantivos incontáveis. My grandmother loves a little cream in her coffee. Have a little tea with me. It’s delicious! (Beba um pouco de chá comigo. Está delicioso!) q Treino de diálogo A Hey, David! Good to see you! Past tense Wh and Yes/No questions with Be and other verbs No presente simples... Se houver mais de um adjetivo descritivo, eles normalmente vem nesta ordem: Tamanho (size): big, little Idade (age): brand new, old Formato (shape): round, square Cor (color): red, blue Origem (origin) : Chinese, American, Italian Material (material): silk, metal, cotton I have long, brown hair. (size, color+noun) She lives in a charming big new apartment near the mall. (opinion, size, age+noun) I bought a lovely black silk dress. (opinion, color, material+noun) They have a beautiful small white dog. (opinion, size, color+noun) That’s a nice round Italian table. (opinion, shape, origin+noun) It’s a cute blue cotton shirt. (opinion, color, material+noun) Quando temos mais de um adjetivo do mesmo grupo na mesma frase, usamos AND para conectá-los: I have black and white hair (black e White são cores) She has a silk and cotton dress (silk e cotton são materiais) Opinião + q Vocabulary: experiences q Review simple past (A7 M2) q Present Perfect: afirmativas, negativas e perguntas q For x Since; Yet x Already 1. Vocabulary: experiences Módulo 02 | Aula 10 Describing Past Experiences Nesta aula Drive a sports car Ride a bike Eat sushi Wear a costume Go to a theme park Visit a space center Drink iced-coffee See an alligator Ride a motorcycle 2. Review Simple Past Wh questions Yes/No questions I was at my house yesterday. Wh + WAS/WERE + pronome + ...? WAS/WERE + pronome + ...? Where were you yesterday? Were you at your house yesterday? I was at my house. Yes, I was. / No, I wasn’t. She WORKED in a Bank in 1999. Wh + DID + pronome + verbo + ...? DID + pronome + verbo + ...? Where did she work in 1999? Did she work in a Bank in 1999? [She worked] in a Bank. When did she work in a Bank? Yes, she did. / No, she didn’t. In 1999. I have worn a costume. Nestes casos usamos o presente perfect! 2. Present Perfect I wore a costume yesterday. They drank iced-coffee last week. They have drunk iced-coffee. She visited a space center 2 years ago. She has visited a space center. Pronome/Nome + have/has + verbo principal no particípio Cuidado! 1) Have como verbo principal: I have two dogs. 2) Have como verbo auxiliar: I have been to Paris five times. (Eu estive em Paris cinco vezes.) Aqui, o have está acompanhando o verbo principal be e ele não tem tradução, reparou? Ele apenas alterou o tempo do verbo be (“estive”). I have seen that movie five times. (Eu assisti àquele filme cinco vezes.) She has lived in Rio a long time ago. (Ela morou no Rio há muito tempo.) The astronauts have traveled to the Moon. (Os astronautas viajaram à Lua.) Simple Present Simple Past Present Perfect Is/are Was/were Been Do/does Did Done Eat/eats Ate Eaten Go/goes Went Gone Have/has Had Had Hear/hears Heard heard Know/knows Knew Known Live/lives Lived Lived he, she itI, you, we, they They have been married for fifty years. Vamos ver alguns exemplos... I have known him since I was 11. We have just started our conversation. (Nós acabamos de começar nossa conversa.) I have just eaten but I’m hungry again. Veja exemplos: My English has improved since I started this course. You have grown so much since the last time I saw you! Falar de duração (2 weeks, a long time, a few months). “Desde”, falar do momento em que algo começou. Paraformar frases negativas com o Present Perfect, é só acrescentar o not após o have/has. Veja os exemplos: She has never gone to the beach. (Ela nunca foi à praia.) Lucas has not finished his homework yet. Lucas has finished his homework already. I have never/not been to Italy. (Eu nunca estive na Itália.) Para fazer perguntas neste tempo verbal, basta colocar o have/has no início da frase. Veja: You have never/not been to Italy. (Você nunca esteve na Itália.) You have been to Italy. (Você esteve na Itália.) Have you been to Italy? (Você esteve na Itália?.) Have you ever been to Italy? (Você alguma vez na vida esteve na Itália?.) Lucas has finished his homework already. Has Lucas finished his homework? O Lucas terminou sua lição de casa? - Yes, I have. / No, I have not (haven’t) - Yes, he has. / No, he has not (hasn’t) q Treino de diálogo A So, how was your weekend? I can drive! (Eu posso/consigo dirigir!) Can I have some water, please? Yes, you can. / No, you can not (can’t). You can drink milk. So, too, neither, either So and Too depois de uma sentença afirmativa Neither or not either depois de uma sentença negativa Com So e Neither, o verbo vem antes do sujeito: So am I (So I am) TASTE and TEXTURE bland (suave) greasy (oleoso) spicy (apimentado) delicious (delicioso) rich (muito doce/enjoativo) Mix (misturar) Slice (fatiar) Chop (picar) Pour (derramar/despejar) Bake* (assar) Roast* (assar) Boil (fever)Grill (grelhar) Fry (fritar) COOKING METHODS *A estrutura dos alimentos é o principal fator que diferencia esses métodos de cozimento. Statement I’m crazy about Italian food. I like sushi a lot. I can eat spicy food. I’m not in the mood for Cuban food. I don’t like bland food. I can’t stand fast food. Agree So am I / I am, too So do I / I do, too So can I / I can, too Neither am I / I’m not either Neither do I / I don’t either Neither can I / I can’t either Disagree Oh, I am not Oh, I don’t Really? I can’t Oh, I am Oh, I like it! Really? I love it! - “I can either buy a t-shirt or a pair of jeans.” - “Either would be great!” Veja só: - “I can buy neither a t-shirt nor a pair of jeans.” - “Neither can I!” 3. Modals would, will for requests What would you like? What kind of juice would you like? Would you like anything else? Would like = want I’ll = I will I’d = I would I’d like roasted chicken. I’ll have roasted chicken. I’d like strawberry juice. I’ll have strawberry juice. Yes, please. I’d like some coffee. No, thanks. That’s all. 4. Sequence adverbs Bianca’s Brownie - 3 eggs - 3⁄4 a cup of oil - 1 1⁄2 cups of flour - 2 cups of sugar - 3⁄4 a cup of chocolate powder - 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract - 1⁄2 a teaspoon of salt First, mix the 3 eggs with the oil. Then, add the sugar. Mix it. Next, add the flour, chocolate powder, salt and vanilla extract. After that, bake it for 35 minutes. 180°C Finally, serve it with vanilla ice-cream. q Treino de diálogo A Say, do you want to go out to dinner tonight? Para isto, precisamos usar: verbo to be + present continuous + alguma expressão que indique tempo futuro I am visiting my gradmother tomorrow. (Eu vou visitar minha avó amanhã.) She is coming home next week. Também podemos falar de futuro usando: verbo to be + going to + verbo de ação I am going to visit my gradmother tomorrow. (Eu vou visitar minha avó amanhã.) She is going to come home next week. (Ela vai voltar para casa semana quevem.) 3. Futuro com Verbo + Infinitivo I hope I want I intend I’d like I plan To travel to Europe To visit my parents To find a new job To have a boyfriend/girlfriend To take a week off 4. Going to X Will Quando usamos o going to? I’m going to marry him in 2021. (Eu vou casar com ele em 2021.) We are going to Europe next month. It’s going to rain tonight. (Vai chover hoje a noite.) I’m gonna watch my favorite movie on Sunday. (Eu vou assistir ao meu filme preferido no domingo.) Quando usamos o will? Em frases com expressões de incerteza, tais como probably, I think, maybe, I guess, I expect, etc, use will, por exemplo: I think she will get a cold. I guess I’ll stay home. (Eu acho que vou ficar em casa.) q Treino de diálogo A Say, what are you doing tonight? Would you like to go out? Me diz, o que voce ̂ vai fazer hoje à noite?
