Ruby Bridges ficou conhecida por revolucionar o sistema de ensino no Sul dos Estados Unidos, em New Orleans no século XX. Foi a primeira criança afro-americana a frequentar uma escola, que até então aceitava apenas crianças brancas.

	Timeline of Ruby Bridges
1954-Ruby Bridges born to Lucille and Abon Bridges in Tylertown, Mississipi.
1960-Ruby and her family move to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Spring 1960-Ruby passed a test that allowed her to go to an all-white school, she was the only one assigned to William Frantz Elementary School.
1960- Ruby´s first day of all- white school at William Frantz, all but one teacher, Barbara Henry, refused to teach her. Ruby continued to go to school, even though everyone was against her.
1995-A biography about Ruby Bridges was published.
1996-Ruby Bridges reunited with her First teacher Barbara Henry.
1998-Ruby Bridges movie was made.
1999-Ruby Bridges formed the Ruby Bridges Foundation to promote differences.
2001-Bridges was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal by Bill Clinton.
2006-Elementary School dedicated to Ruby Bridges.
2007-Children’s Museum of Indianapolis unveiled an exhibit in honor of her life. Now Bridges works as a philanthropist continues to promote anti-segregation efforts and differences.
