PRÁTICA ORAL EM LÍNGUA INGLESA Aula 3 - Estratégias de produção oral: solicitando e oferecendo informações pessoais Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Conteúdo Programático desta aula Uso de expressões do cotidiano Oferecer e solicitar informações do cotidiano Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Socialization is the process by which children and adults learn from others. We begin learning from others during the early days of life; and most people continue their social learning all through life (unless some mental or physical disability slows or stops the learning process). Sometimes the learning is fun, as when we learn a new sport, art or musical technique from a friend we like. At other times, social learning is painful, as when we learn not to drive too fast by receiving a large fine for speeding. Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Hello! How have you been? Hope you’re fine! Portanto, precisamos estar atentos ao grau de formalidade, contexto, cultura, dependendo de quem está falando conosco Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA The concept of register The difference between "formal" and "informal" is not that between "grammatical" and "ungrammatical." The difference is best understood as an instance of what linguists call register. The speaker of any language learns at a very young age that certain speech situations call for certain ways of putting words together. A child of six or seven will speak one way to fellow children, another way to parents, and perhaps even a third way to teachers. Adults speak one way to children and another way to adult friends and colleagues. Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA What varies in these diverse situations is not simply tone of voice and vocabulary (the insertion of please and thank you, for example, in children's exchanges with adults) but syntax as well: the English professor who studiously adheres to noun-pronoun agreement rules when addressing students (Everyone has his or her weakness) may well kick up his or her heels at home and join the majority of English speakers in employing the "singular their" (Everyone has their weakness). Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA First impressions is to introduce yourself in a way that is clear, concise, and personable, and that generates interest. I quote Leslie Smith,”Making introductions, being introduced, and introducing yourself are a necessary part of effective networking in all situations,at network gatherings, business meetings, and social situations.” Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA For many people the first impressions is the lasting one.Although you may get the opportunity to altar the first impression, the ideal situation is to make it strong and positive through the way you introduce yourself. One of your greatest assets can be a self introduction that develops relationship and rapport while generating interest . The way you introduce yourself can either turn people off, leave them cold,or draw them in Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Develop your self introduction until it is a natural expression of yourself that fits the situation .Practice different approaches until you find the words that best represent you while getting your message across so that people will remember you. Your response to people can be as simple, easy and natural. At the same time, make sure that it generates interest, conveys your message, and has a positive, lasting effect. Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Formal encounters At formal encounters, for example among business associates, you usually address someone with Mr. or Mrs./Ms., but when you introduce yourself, you normally leave out the titles. So you don't say "Hello, I am Mr. Smith." but "Hello, I am Marc Smith.". The doctor's degree can be used if you want to keep the relationship very official. You would then introduce yourself as "Dr. Tom Maier" for example. If you place no great value on titles, you can break the ice by saying "Oh, please call me Tom". Tema da Apresentação NOME DA AULA – AULA1 NOME DA DISCIPLINA Introducing yourself and others Maybe you just stand there and don't really know how to begin when you want to introduce yourself or someone else to an English native speaker. Your intention, however, was to leave a lasting first impression at the beginning of a conversation. The following phrases will help you to introduce yourself both casually and confidently. If someone is introduced to you, you may reply "Nice to meet you" and introduce yourself afterwards.
