Unit 1
Part 1 No. 2
We wanted to talk about 21st century
education. We are living through an
educational revolution. The pace of change
is staggering. Schools, regions, entire
countries are turning education on its head
and redening the experiences of students
and of teachers. The impact is felt by
millions of children and their families around
the world. Let’s consider for a moment the
world in which they live: a world with so
much knowledge that is hard to grasp.
People are creating 2000 new websites
every hour. They are uploading 35 hours of
video every minute, and watching 2 billion
YouTube videos every day. […]
In response, education leaders are making
big changes, building 21st century
skills, using enabling technologies,
and personalizing learning to engage
students in diverse and creative ways.
In South Korea, schools are switching to
digital textbooks, so students can study
anytime and anywhere, with online hours
recognized as school attendance. In
Denmark, students are using the internet
while taking exams. They can access any
site they like, even Facebook, as long as
they don’t message each other or use
e-mail. In the USA, ultrapersonalized
learning approaches allow students to
create their own individual schedules. [...]
Learning can happen anywhere and
everywhere.

But here’s a thing Sanjay, I’m not saying
that you can’t post these things, I’m just
saying that you need to understand how
social media works. You want to put
yourself at risk? Go ahead! Because there
are already features built into these social
media platforms to protect you. How about
you change the privacy settings on your
posts? If you are going to post something
that has sensitive information, limit it to
your friends only, or to a certain amount of
people. Is there somebody you want to get
to, then limit the post to that. Don’t just
make everything public and then anybody
from anywhere, someone in Bangalore, in
India, can say “uh, I hate that girl!”. Just
be careful about how you do the thing. […]

So let’s get started. I think one of the main
things that draws people into this lifestyle
is this idea or notion that happiness is
increased or the quality of life is improved.
Now, advertisements keep telling us that
stuff will make us happy, but it is only by
having them we will feel fullled. Having
that perfect man or woman, the body of
your dreams, the most luxurious car or
house. But happiness is a state of being
and not having. […]
So, on that note, minimalism means just
buying those things that you need and
then on occasion buying those things that
you want, but not buying those things that
you want in excess. And in doing so, you
save money. [...]
Less consumption means less waste, and
by recycling and donating those things that
you no longer need, that means someone
else can benet from it, which means
they’re going to be buying less of the new
stuff and less waste yet again. […]

Hi, friends! Welcome back to my channel.
You are probably watching this video
because English is not your rst language,
and you are debating of like whether
you should use English or your rst
language in your Youtube channel. I
really understand that struggle, because
although I may sound very uent and like
very condent on YouTube right now, I
actually struggled with this before. […]
So, the main reason that most of us want
to use English for our YouTube channel is
because we want to reach out to a wider
range of people, which makes sense
because most people understand English
better. […]
So, if you are not so condent in speaking in
English because, like, you’re worried of your
accent or you’re worried that your English is
not perfect, don’t worry about it. […]
So, you see, whatever language that you
choose, as long as you’re providing like
valuable content and you come across as
a condent person, you’re comfortable on
screen, that’s all that matters. […]

Victims of the transatlantic slave trade and
their descendants have shaped Brazil’s
economy, politics, spirituality, art, culture
and sports. An African soul permeates the
very essence of contemporary Brazil.
Ao todo, cerca de 10 milhões de pessoas
foram raptadas da África durante toda a
escravidão colonial.
Professor Helio Santos is president of the
foundation for racial equality.
