Connect the nutrition bag to the infusion system and purge it.
Clean the connection of the equipment with the catheter.
Regular the flow of perfusion in the pump, according to the prescription.
Isolate the connections with gauze impregnated with antiseptic and secure with adhesive tape.
Change the serum system every time the nutrition bag is changed (every 24 hours).
Avoid administering other solutions (medications, etc.) and extracting blood through the vein that administers the parenteral nutrition to prevent adverse reactions.
Parenteral nutrition should not be interrupted during patient transfers.
