What is the tubular function of the kidney? Tubular function of the kidney In the proximal tubule, 65-70% of the glomerular filtrate is reabsorbed. In the loop of Henle, 25% of the filtered sodium chloride and 15% of the filtered water are reabsorbed. In the distal tubule, a variable fraction of the remaining 10% of sodium and 15% of water from the glomerular filtrate is reabsorbed. The kidney is capable of secreting substances from the bloodstream into the tubular lumen. The kidney is capable of regulating the excretion of water and sodium according to the individual's hydration status.
