Boa tarde!

Vamos derivar a função duas vezes, pois a derivada segunda nos entrega a concavidade da função:

f(x)=-x^4+6x^2-4

f'(x)=-4x^3+12x

f''(x)=-12x^2+12

Igualando a última a zero:

-12x^2+12=0

12x^2=12

x^2=1

x=±1

Como a função f''(x) é uma parábola, com concavidade para baixo, e temos duas raízes, a função tem os seguintes sinais:

x<-1 ==> f''(x) < 0

-1 < x < 1 ==> f'(x) > 0 (concavidade para cima, f''(x) > 0)

x>1 ==> f'(x) < 0

Solução : E

Os pontos críticos de \(f(x)\) são:

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial f(x) \over \partial x} =0\)

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial \over \partial x}(-x^4 + 6x^2 - 4) =0\)

\(\Longrightarrow -4x^3 + 12x =0\)

\(\Longrightarrow x(-4x^2 + 12) =0\)

Então:

\(\Longrightarrow \left \{ \begin{matrix} x_1 = 0 \\ -4x_2^2 + 12=0 \end{matrix} \right.\)   \(\to \left \{ \begin{matrix} x_1 = 0 \\ 4x_2^2 = 12 \end{matrix} \right.\)    \(\to \left \{ \begin{matrix} x_1 = 0 \\ x_2^2 = 3 \end{matrix} \right.\)

\(\Longrightarrow \left \{ \begin{matrix} x_1 = 0 \\ x_2 = 3 \\ x_3 = -3 \end{matrix} \right.\)

E a natureza desses pontos críticos são:

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} = { \partial \over \partial x} \Big [ { \partial \over \partial x}(-x^4 + 6x^2 - 4) \Big ]\)

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} = { \partial \over \partial x} \Big [-4x^3 + 12x \Big ]\)

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} = -12x^2 + 12\)

\(\Longrightarrow \left \{ \begin{matrix} { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} \bigg |_{x_1 = 0} = -12 \cdot 0^2 + 12 \\ { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} \bigg |_{x_2 = 3} = -12 \cdot 3^2 + 12 \\ { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} \bigg |_{x_3 = -3} = -12 \cdot (-3)^2 + 12 \end{matrix} \right.\)     \(\rightarrow \left \{ \begin{matrix} { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} \bigg |_{x_1 = 0} = 12 > 0 \\ { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} \bigg |_{x_2 = 3} = -96 < 0 \\ { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} \bigg |_{x_3 = -3} = -96<0 \end{matrix} \right.\)

\(\Longrightarrow \left \{ \begin{matrix} x_1 = 0: \, \mbox {ponto minimo} \\ x_2 = 3: \, \mbox {ponto maximo} \\ x_3 = -3: \, \mbox {ponto maximo} \end{matrix} \right.\)

E os pontos de inflexão de \(f(x)\) são:

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial ^2 f(x) \over \partial x^2} =0\)

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial \over \partial x} \Big [ { \partial \over \partial x}(-x^4 + 6x^2 - 4) \Big ] =0\)

\(\Longrightarrow { \partial \over \partial x} \Big [-4x^3 + 12x \Big ] =0\)

\(\Longrightarrow -12x^2 + 12 =0\)

\(\Longrightarrow 12x^2 = 12 \)

\(\Longrightarrow x^2 = 1\)      \(\to \left \{ \begin{matrix} x_4 = 1 \\ x_5 = -1 \end{matrix} \right.\)

Concluindo, a resposta correta é: letra E \(]-1; \, 1 [\).
