What is the definition of uremia and what are its clinical signs?
Uremia is a complex clinical syndrome associated with severe failure of renal excretory function. Azotemia is the term that defines an increase in plasma concentrations of non-protein nitrogenous products, mainly urea and creatinine, secondary to renal excretion failure. The appearance or not of uremia depends on the degree of azotemia but also on the speed with which it is established. The toxins accumulated in the body due to renal failure are called uremic toxins.
