What is a pulsar?
A pulsar is a rapidly rotating neutron star with an intense magnetic field inclined to the rotation axis. Pulsars were discovered in 1967 as radio sources that pulse rapidly at constant frequencies. Pulsars emit radio waves that escape from the poles of the star's powerful magnetic field.
