F. Your friends were very nice to me. 
G. Diane was upset, but I don’t know why. 
H. John and his family were here. 
2- Complete with the affirmative or interrogative form of the verb to be- past 
tense: 
A. Yesterday we were working overtime. 
B. Ed: Were you listening to music last night? (YOU) 
Michael: Yes, I was. (I) 
C. Father: Where was it this afternoon? (IT) 
Mother: He was at Eric’s house. (He) 
Father: what were they doing? (THEY) 
Mother: I think they were playing videos games. (THEY) 
D. Julia: It was cold yesterday. (IT) 
Brenda: Yeah. But it’s hot today.
