Repairman: Peace be upon you. Al-
Amana Electrical Appliance Repair 
Shop, Nasir speaking. 
 
Majid: And upon you be peace, Nasir. 
My name is Majid. I’m calling about my 
refrigerator. I think it's broken; it won’t 
stay cold enough. 
 
السالم عليكم، محل االمانة لتصليح : المصلح
 .االدوات الكهربائية، ناصر معك
انا وعليكم السالم اخي ناصر، اسمي ماجد،: ماجد
اتصل فيك عشان ثالجتي، اظن انها خاربة النها ما 
 . تبردش تمام
Repairman: A lot of people have this 
problem. I've fixed many refrigerators 
that have this problem. 
 
Majid: Could you please come and see 
it today? 
 
كثير من الناس عندهم هاذي المشكلة، : المصلح
 .صلّحت كثير من الثالجات مثل كذا
 تقدر تجي تشوفها اليوم لو سمحت؟ : ماجد
Repairman: Unfortunately, I’m busy 
today. But, I can come over tomorrow at 
7 a.m. 
Majid: Okay, that’s good. No problem. 
 
لألسف انا اليوم مشغول، بس بكرة اقدر : المصلح
 .اجي لعندك الساعة سبعة الصبح

Repairman: What’s your address? 
 
Majid: My house is on sixtieth Street, 
north of Jawlat Al-Marisi and next to Al-
Shefa Pharmacy.

بيتي على شارع الستين شمال جولة : ماجد

Repairman: I know exactly where that 
is. Would you mind telling me how you 
found out about us? 
 
Majid: My brother Kareem told me very 
good things about you. Last month, you 
fixed his … 
 
ممكن تقل لي كيف . عرفت فين بالضبط: المصلح
 تعرفت علينا؟ 
اخي كريم قال لي اشياء كثير كويسة عنك، : ماجد
 ... الشهر الماضي انت صلحت له 
 
Repairman: Yes, yes, I fixed his stove. I 
remember him! Your brother is a good

ايوة ايوة، صلحت الفرن حقه، اتذكره، : المصلح
 .وهللا اخوك رجل محترم
 
 
 
Majid: Thank you, Nasir. We live in the 
same house. He and his family live on 
the second floor, and my family and I 
live on the first floor. 
مشكور اخي ناصر، نحن عايشين في نفس : ماجد
البيت، هو وعائلته يسكنوا في الطابق الثاني وانا

Repairman: I know exactly where you 
live. 
 
Majid: Good, I’ll see you tomorrow at 7 
a.m., God willing.

طيب، بأشوفك بكرة الساعة سبعة الصبح ان : ماجد

The following day, at Majid’s house: 
 
Repairman: Good morning. 
Majid: Good morning. Please come in. 
The kitchen is this way. 
 
 :اليوم التالي في بيت ماجدفي 
 
 .صباح الخير: المصلح
 . صباح النور، تفضل، من هنا المطبخ: ماجد
Repairman: Thank you. You told me 
that your refrigerator isn’t keeping your 
food cold enough. 
Majid: Yes, we started noticing this 
problem yesterday morning – the food 
tasted different. The cooked food was 
ruined, and we had to throw it out. When 
I opened the freezer, I noticed that the 
ice was beginning to melt. So, we knew 
there was something wrong.

ايوة، بدينا نالحظ هاذي المشكلة امس : ماجد
ختلف، واالكل المطبوخ الصبح، طعم االكل كان م
تخرب ورميناه ، ولما فتحت الفريزر الحظت انه 
 . فعرفنا انه فيها خلل. الثلج بدا يذوب
Repairman: This isn’t good. I see that 
the refrigerator is empty. 
 
Majid: Yes, as soon as I noticed the 
problem, I put all the food in my 
brother’s refrigerator on the second 
floor. 
 
 .هذا مش جيد، اشوف الثالجة فاضية: المصلح
 
ايوة، على طول لما الحظت المشكلة، حطيت : ماجد
 . كل األطعمة في ثالجة اخي في الطابق الثاني
Repairman: Good thinking. This also 
makes it easier for me to work on the 
fridge. Let me have a look at it. 
 
Majid: Here you go. 
 
 
 
فكرة كويسة، وهذا ايضا يسهل شغلي : المصلح
 . على الثالجة، خليني اشوف
 . تفضل: ماجد
 
After a few minutes: 
 
Repairman: I found the problem; it 
looks like the fan is broken. 
 
Majid: So, can you fix it? 
 
 :دقائق بعد
 
 
عرفت المشكلة، مبين انو المروحة : المصلح
 .خربانة
 
 يعني بتقدر تصلحها؟ : ماجد
Repairman: Of course. All I need to do 
is replace the broken fan. It’s a very 
easy job, God willing. 
 
اكيد، كل اللي الزم اعمله هو اننا ابدل : المصلح
ط مرة ان شاء المروحة الخاربة، يعني عمل بسي
 . هللا
After 30 minutes: 
 
Repairman: Here you go; the 
refrigerator is ready. Now, the food will 
always stay cold. 
 
Majid: I’m so grateful. How much does 
the repair cost? 
 
 :بعد نصف ساعة
تفضل، الثالجة جاهزة، واألكل اآلن بيبقى : المصلح
 . دائماً بارد
 
 انا وهللا متجمل كثير، كم حق التصليح؟ : ماجد
Repairman: I usually charge 4,000 
riyals to fix the fan in a refrigerator, but 
because your brother is a customer of 
mine, I will only charge you 3,000 riyals. 
 
Majid: God bless you. Here’s the 
money. 
 
اصلح عادة اي مروحة ثالجة باربعة الف : المصلح
لاير، بس ألنو اخوك زبون عندي، باخذ منك ثالثة
