The phone rings: 
Employee: Doctor Ahmad’s Clinic. How 
may I help you? 
 
Ayman: Peace be upon you. My name 
is Ayman. I’ve been having a lot of pain 
in my teeth. I would like to see the 
dentist today, if possible. 
 
 :التلفون يرن
عيادة الدكتور احمد، كيف ممكن : الموظف
 اساعدك؟ 
اسناني . كم، معك االخ ايمنالسالم علي: ايمن
توجعني كثير، وحاب اجي اشوف طبيب االسنان 
 . اليوم اذا ممكن
Employee: Let me take a look at the 
doctor’s schedule … The doctor can 
see you in one hour. Can you come by? 
 
الدكتور ... خليني اشوف جدول الدكتور : الموظف
 يقدر يشوفك بعد ساعة، تقدر تيجي؟ 
Ayman: Yes, I can come by. Thank you 
very much. 
 . ايوة، اقدر اجي، شكرا جزيال: ايمن 
Ayman is seated at a dental chair: في عيادة الدكتور، ايمن يجلس على الكرسي: 
Dentist: Hello, Ayman. I heard that you 
have pain in your teeth. 
Ayman: Yes, doctor. I’ve been having a 
lot of pain in my teeth. 
 
اهال ايمن، سمعت انو عندك وجع : ب االسنانطبي
 . بأسنانك
 . ايوة يا دكتور، اسناني توجعني كثير: ايمن
Dentist: How long have you had this 
pain? 
 
Ayman: For about a week, especially 
when I drink cold or hot liquids. But, last 
night, it was so bad, I couldn’t sleep. 
 
 من متى وانت تشعر باأللم؟ : طبيب االسنان
من حوالي اسبوع، خاصة لّما اشرب سوائل : ايمن
باردة او حامية اسناني توجعني كثير، والليلة 
 . الماضية ما قدرتش انام من شدة الوجع
Dentist: Let me do an x-ray of your 
teeth. Please open your mouth. 
Ayman: Okay. 
 
خليني اعملك اشعة ألسنانك، لو : طبيب االسنان
 . سمحت افتح فمك
 . حاضر: ايمن
After the x-ray: األشعة بعد: 
Dentist: See the x-ray? It shows that 
you have cavities on two molar teeth on 
your left side. 
 
 
بتشوف صورة االشعة؟ يظهر انه : ب االسنانطبي
عندك تسوس في الضرسين اللي على جهة 
 . اليسار
 
Ayman: That's why I feel pain on that 
side. 
 . عشان كذا اشعر بوجع في هذه الجهة: ايمن
Dentist: I can treat your cavities today. 
Does that work for you? 
Ayman: Of course, doctor. 
 
انا اقدر اعالج التسوس اليوم، هل : طبيب االسنان
 هذا مناِسب لك؟ 
 . اكيد مناسب يا دكتور: ايمن
Dentist: I will also clean your teeth 
because they need to be cleaned. 
Ayman: Thank you, doctor. 
 
وأيضا بأنظف اسنانك، ألنهم : طبيب االسنان
 .بحاجة لتنظيف
 . اشكرك يا دكتور: ايمن
After cleaning Ayman's teeth and 
treating his cavities: 
 :بعد تنظيف االسنان ومعالجة التسوس 
Dentist: Tell me, Ayman, how often do 
you brush your teeth every day? 
Ayman: I brush my teeth three times a 
day. 
 
قل لي يا ايمن، كم مرة في اليوم : ب االسنانطبي
 تفرش اسنانك؟
 . افرش اسناني ثالث مرات في اليوم: ايمن
Dentist: Good. What kind of toothbrush 
do you use? 
Ayman: I use a soft-bristled toothbrush, 
doctor. 
 
ممتاز، ايش نوع فرشاة االسنان : طبيب االسنان
 اللي تستعملها؟
 . استعمل فرشاة اسنان لينة يا دكتور: ايمن
Dentist: Excellent, that's healthy for 
your teeth. Do you floss your teeth? 
Ayman: I only floss when food gets 
stuck in my teeth. 
 
. ممتاز، هذا صحي ألسنانك: طبيب االسنان
 تستعمل الخيط لتنظيف اسنانك؟
استخدم الخيط بس لما االكل يدخل بين : ايمن
 . اسناني
Dentist: It is very important to floss 
your teeth every day, since bacteria 
builds up between your teeth. 
Ayman: Are my teeth that bad, doctor? 
 
ضروري مرة تستخدم الخيط كل : طبيب االسنان
 .يوم ألنه البكتيريا تتكاثر بين اسنانك
 لهذه الدرجة اسناني تعبانة يا دكتور؟ : ايمن
Dentist: Don’t worry, Ayman. There is 
only minor inflammation in your gums 
because you don’t floss. 
 
Ayman: God willing, I will start flossing. 
What should I do about the swelling? 
 
ماتقلقش يا ايمن، بس شوية : طبيب االسنان
 .الخيط التهاب في اللثة حقك، ألنك ما تستعملش
ان شاء هللا بأبدأ استخدم الخيط، بس كيف : ايمن
 نعالج االلتهاب؟
Dentist: You can gargle with salt water 
until the swelling goes down. 
تقدر تتغرغر بالماء والملح إلى ان : طبيب االسنان
 . يخف االلتهاب
Ayman: God willing, I will do that, 
doctor. Thank you very much. 
Dentist: You’re welcome. Goodbye.
