Anchor: Greetings and welcome to 
all our dear viewers everywhere. 
Good evening as we join you in Huna 
Al Sudan. Sudan, is a vast land full of 
bounties. In this episode, our dear 
viewers, we will talk about knowledge 
and the land of knowledge. 
 
المذيعة: أهالً ومرحب بيكم مشاهدينا االعزاء 
في كل مكان ومساكم سعيد يا رب دايماً ونحنا 
بنلتقيكم في هنا السودان. هنا السودان أرض 
شاسعة مليئة بالخيرات وفي هذه الحلقة 
مشاهدينا االعزاء نتحدث عن العلم وعن أرض 
 العلم. 
We are pleased in this episode that 
our guests are having a big 
celebration tomorrow, God willing, for 
graduating four [academic] cycles. It 
is not a new university, it was created 
on solid ground and is an acclaimed 
one. It is an extension of a university 
that indeed was established and that 
was set on very solid basis. It is 
Bahri University which was 
previously the University of Juba. 
 
يسعدنا في هذه الحلقة أن يكون ضيوفنا هم 
يحتفون احتفائية كبيرة في الغد بمشيئة هللا 
بتخريج أربع دفعات. وهي جامعة....هي ليست 
وليدة... وهي لدت باسنانها....ولدت 
فهي امتداد من جامعة كانت قد عمالقة...
أسست وأرست قواعد متينة جداً. هي جامعة 
 بحري وكانت من قبل جامعة جوبا. 
We are pleased to have with us in 
the studio our guests, Dr. Nimah 
Ibrahim Awad Al Karim, the head of 
the Social Work department, at the 
school Social Studies and Rural 
Development. We welcome you Dr. 
and good evening. 
Dr. Nimah: Hello and greetings to 
you. 
 
يسعدنا أن يكون معنا داخل االستوديو ضيوفنا 
الكرام دكتورة نعمة ابراهيم عوض الكريم، 
رئيس قسم الخدمة االجتماعية، كلية دراسات 
مرحب بيكي المجتمع والتنمية الريفية. أهالً و
 يا دكتورة ومساك سعيد يا رب. 
 دكتورة نعمة: أهالً وسهالً. 
Anchor: Yes, very nice. We greet 
them and wish all those students 
good luck always. God willing, we 
hope that just as the Bahri University 
welcomed [embraced] them with 
open arms, that society would 
welcome them in the same way 
[embrace them]. 
 
المذيعة: نعم. جميل. اليهم التحية واحنا متمنى 
لكل هؤالء الطالب التوفيق دايماً وأبداً. وانه 
ان شاء هللا كما وجدوا جامعة بحري تفتح لهم 
 ها، يفتح لهم المجمتع أذرعه.أذرع
And, of course, because this 
university teaches alongside 
academic studies that are well 
recognized, and it also teaches 
development with all its forms, social 
development in various forms, and 
because any country that wants to 
build a solid base, there must be a 
development, then we are pleased to 
welcome Ph.D. Nima once again. 
Ph.D. Nima, you are the Head of 
School of Social Studies and Rural 
Development. We would like you to 
talk to us about this development 
which is inseparable to most 
university departments. 
 
وأكيد ألنه هذه الجامعة تدرس جنباً الى جنب 
الدراسات األكاديمية المتعارف عليها. أيضاً 
تدرس التنمية بمختلف أشكالها، التنمية 
المجتمعية بأشكالها المختلفة ألنه أي وطن 
يريد أن يبني قاعدة وأساس ثابت ال بد أن 
تكون هنالك تنمية. يسعدنا أن نرحب بيكي مرة 
عمة وانت رئيسة كلية دراسات ثانية دكتورة ن
المجتمع والتنمية الريفية. عايزينك تكلمينا عن 
هذه التنمية الهي مالزمة لمعظم كليات 
 الجامعة. 
Doctor Nima: Thank you very much 
for [giving me this] opportunity, and 
for the national television. Of course, 
development is the focus of the 
human being. The fundamental and 
the most sublime objective is the 
development of the human being. 
Therefore, the Department of Social 
Studies and Rural Development is 
one of the colleges that deal with the 
developmental aspect, with various 
types of development. It is interested 
in the human being, human beings 
who live in this area, the Sudanese 
person, because the intent of all the 
educational process is to benefit the 
citizen. 
 
دكتورة نعمة: شكراً جزيالً للفرصة، 
محور بالتلفزيون القومي، طبعاً التنمية هي
االنسان والهدف األساسي واألسمى هو تنمية 
االنسان. ولذلك كانت كلية دراسات المجتمع 
والتنمية الريفية هي من الكليات التي تعنى 
بالجانب التنموي بشتى أنواع التنمية وتهتم 
باإلنسان، إنسان المنطقة، إنسان السودان، 
ألنه هو الغاية من العملية التعليمية كلها لفايدة 
 المواطن.
For this reason, the Facully of Social 
Studies and Rural Development is 
concerned with the developmental 
side. It has multiple faculties 
[departments] working in the field of 
development [such as] the 
Communication and Development 
Department and the Department of 
Social Work, which works on 
 
ولذلك كلية دراسات المجتمع والتنمية الريفية 
تعنى بالجانب التنموي ولديها أقسام متعددة 
التنموي، قسم االتصال تعمل في المجال 
التنموي، وقسم الخدمة االجتماعية الذي يعمل 
على تنمية االفراد والجماعات والمجتمعات 
 وحل المشكالت والمساعدة في حل المشكالت.
individual, group and community 
group development and on solving 
problems and assisting in solving 
problems. 
In addition, [there is] the Rural 
Development Department, which 
deals with people of the countryside, 
as well as the Library of Sciences 
that deals with the aspect of 
cognitive science. 
 
وكذلك قسم التنمية الريفية الذي يعنى بانسان 
ات والتي تعنى الريف. وكذلك علوم المكتب
 بالجانب المعرفي. 
Interviewer: Yes, does it have a 
practical side as studying the 
communities, the rural communities 
that are around it and to lay the 
groundwork for development of these 
communities? 
 
المذيعة: نعم. هي عندها جانب عملي الهو 
دراسة المجتمعات الحولها والمجتمعات الريفية 
 ووضع اسس تنموية لهذه المجتمعات؟
Doctor Nima: Yes, definitely. When 
the University Council was 
established, the first thing that came 
to the mind of those in charge was to 
form committees including a 
committee to connect the university 
to the community. 
 
دكتورة نعمة: نعم بالتأكيد بالضرورة وعندما 
مجلس الجامعة وأنشأ أول من بدر على قام
ذهن القائمين على األمر تكوين لجان من بينها 
 لجنة ربط الجامعة بالمجتمع. 
Interviewer: Yeah, please tell us 
more about the direct services and 
the activities that the college does to 
serve the society. 
 
المذيعة: أه. يا ريت تكلمينا أكثر عن الخدمات 
والنشاطات المباشرة البتقوم بها الكلية في 
 خدمة المجمتع. 
Doctor Nimah: Yes, any university 
in the world, even globally and out of 
social responsibility it has to offer its 
services to society. The universities 
that isolate themselves from their 
communities are considered 
unsucessful universities, because the 
goal is the human being. 
Interviewer: Yes. 
 
دكتورة نعمة: نعم. أي جامعة في العالم، حتى 
عالمياً يعني... ال بد من منطلق المسؤولية 
للمجمتع. االجتماعية انها اتقدم خدماتها 
والجامعات التي تنعزل عن مجتمعاتها تعتبر 
 جامعات فاشلة ألن الهدف هو...هو االنسان...
 المذيعة: نعم.
Dr. Nimah: Therefore, it was 
inevitable that a Bahri University, 
 
كان ال بد من أنه … نعمة: ولذلك يعنيدكتورة 
جامعة بحري في كلياتها المتعددة طبعاً لديها 
with it multiple faculties of course, 
has about 19 colleges and 3 
specialized centers. All have 
activities are concerned with the 
aspect of social responsibility, human 
development and learning about his 
needs, and hence provide direct 
services. 
حوالي تسعة عشر كلية وثالثة مراكز 
متخصصة كلها فيها أنشطة تعنى بجانب 
المسؤولية االجتماعية، تنمية االنسان 
والتعرف على احتياجاته بالتالي تقديم خدمات 
 مباشرة . 
For example, the Faculty of Social 
Studies linked knowing needs of the 
population to scientific studies and so 
it started a scientific research to find 
the needs of the regions around the 
university - the northern rural areas. 
 
فمثالً على سبيل المثال، يعني.... كلية دراسات 
جتمع ربطت معرفة احتياجات السكان الم
بالدراسات العلمية. ولذلك بدأت في أبحاث 
علمية للتعرف على احتياجات المناطق حول 
 الجامعة مناطق الريف الشمالي. 
It is in the process of a huge project 
to determine the needs of the 
countryside, even though...even if 
there were development by joint 
sides to get to know the local needs. 
 
وهي بصدد مشروع ضخم كبير لتحديد 
احتياجات الريف حتى وأنه...حتى لوكانت 
هناك تنمية من قبل جهات مشتركة يتعرفون 
 على االحتياجات المحلية. 
Aslo, the Facutly of Education, has 
traditionally trained teachers the 
fundamentals [of teaching],
has 
trained school administration, and 
offered training courses in psycho-
social counseling. 
 
كذلك كلية التربية يعني درجت على تدريب 
المعلمين األساس وفي اإلدارة المدرسية 
ديم دورات تدريبية في االرشاد النفسي وتق
 واالجتماعي. 
. 
For example, The Faculty of 
Veterinary Medicine [contains] as 
one of its departments the hospital 
which provides services for the area 
around the Alcadaro. These services 
include outreach, guidance and 
training of the university students and 
other universities. The Faculty of 
Medicine mobilizes medical and 
awareness convoys etc ... 
 
مثالً كلية الطب البيطري لديها قسم من 
أقسامها المستشفى، ويقدم خدمات للمنطقة 
حول الكدرو من التوعية واالرشاد وتدريب 
طالب الجامعة والجامعات األخرى. كلية الطب 
 تسير القوافل الطبية والتوعوية الخ.. 
Interviewer: A lot of activities. Dr. 
Nima. We will continue our talk about 
Bahri University and about 
tomorrow's graduation for this 
university, God willing. We will take a
