<p>apresenta:</p><p>Módulo 06: Rhythm and Intonation</p><p>Aula 4:</p><p>Intonation - Rising</p><p>and Falling</p><p>01 Módulo 06: Rhythm and Intonation</p><p>Aula 4: Intonation - Rising and Falling</p><p>Nesta aula vamos focar nas formas de entonação que usamos em inglês.</p><p>Na aula passada, introduzimos o tópico entonação, mas com foco em ênfase,</p><p>e vimos como podemos enfatizar palavras específicas na frase e assim mudar</p><p>o significado da mensagem. Já nesta aula vamos falar sobre rising e falling</p><p>intonation. Mas o que é isso?</p><p>Rising Intonation é quando há uma entonação crescente, já Falling</p><p>Intonation quando há uma entonação decrescente. Ainda parece confuso?</p><p>Vamos ver isso na prática.</p><p>Quando vamos listar algo que vamos comprar, tanto em inglês quanto</p><p>em português, usamos as entonações crescente e decrescente. A entonação</p><p>crescente mostra que haverá algo a mais para ser acrescentado à lista e a</p><p>entonação decrescente mostra que aquele é o último item da lista.</p><p>↗ ↗ ↗ ↘</p><p>Vou ao supermercado para comprar banana, leite, carne e ovos.</p><p>I’ll go to the supermarket to buy banana, milk, meat, and eggs.</p><p>Como podemos perceber é assim que a entonação funciona. Às vezes ela</p><p>é crescente e às vezes decrescente. Por que isso é importante? Um ponto é</p><p>que a entonação dá vida ao que está sendo dito, indicando emoções como</p><p>felicidade, surpresa, tristeza, entusiasmo e até mesmo o que já vimos antes,</p><p>sarcasmo e ironia.</p><p>Existe uma forma de falar em inglês chamada de UpSpeak, UpTalk, High</p><p>Rising Terminal (HRT). Isso ocorre quando o falante usa Rising Intonation e</p><p>pode soar infantil, inseguro ou até mesmo não-profissional.</p><p>“Uptalk" é visto por algumas pessoas como uma forma de sempre</p><p>apontar para o interlocutor que ainda não terminou o que estava dizendo.</p><p>Assim como acontece com a lista do supermercado. Eu, particularmente,</p><p>acho que pode soar um pouco infantil e maçante. Usamos Rising quando estamos fazendo uma</p><p>yes/no question, ou seja, aquelas perguntas que somente respondemos com</p><p>yes ou no.</p><p>Let’s check some examples:</p><p>Examples:</p><p>↗</p><p>1. Então, vimos que podemos usar Rising Intonation</p><p>quando estamos usando Uptalk, quando estamos fazendo Yes/no Questions e quando</p><p>estamos listando algumas coisas. Será que tem mais exemplos? Oh my goodness, this is about Rising Intonation, isn’t it?</p><p>Yes it is! Bom, agora podemos falar sobre Falling Intonation. Como já</p><p>sabemos, usamos Falling quando a entonação decresce como no exemplo</p><p>da lista do supermercado. O final da lista, o ponto final. Everything is prepared for you. There is always another disadvantage of having to</p><p>spend your holiday</p><p>with a group of people you have never met before.</p><p>This means that you can be stuck with a group of people you have</p><p>nothing in common with and no shared interests other than the fact</p><p>that you are having the same holiday together.</p><p>Many people do make good friends on package holidays and this</p><p>friendship can last for many years with many friends keeping in touch</p><p>when they return home.</p><p>Wow.
