Covering an area of approximately 154 hectares, the park is located in an Environmental Protection Zone 1. The Conservation Unit is essencial for protecting natural resources, especially the underground water source, which experts point out as the most important in Natal. Its vegetation is known as a remnant of the Atlantic rainforest associated with some species characteristic of the savanna and the caatinga, resulting an area that serves as shelter for wild animals.
