Writing Tasks

dia a dia. Tenha um ótimo semestre!
Welcome to Adult Track!

exclusivos. Esse guia irá:

1. orientar seu estudo;
2. sugerir recursos extras de consolidação do que foi visto nas aulas;
3. oferecer ideias de como expandir o seu conhecimento;

Model text:

Hi, my name’s Ricardo. I’m Brazilian and I’m learning English to get a better job. I’m
interested in developing my listening and vocabulary skills.

I study twice a week at a language school and I dedicate about 2 hours a week outside
class. I love the language but I don’t have time to study regularly.

I plan to spend 4 or 5 hours a week outside class practicing English. I plan to do two
things to help me learn English: (1) to develop my listening skills, I plan to watch films and
TV series and (2) to expand my vocabulary, I plan to read magazines and newspapers
every month.

Lesson 11: Writing a welcome email describing your office to a new workmate.

Model text:

Last weekend, my husband and I went on a day trip to Africa! We took a boat to Tangiers,
in Morocco.

We spent the day sightseeing in Tangiers. It’s a small city, but very busy. While we were
exploring, my husband got lost! Luckily, we found each other again, after about half an
hour!

We spent ages in the medina (market), which was very bright and colourful. It was our
favourite place. We loved the local street food. The streets were sometimes very busy
and noisy. Also, some of the shops were quite expensive, so we didn’t buy many
souvenirs.

Tangiers isn’t a peaceful place, and you need a good map, but it’s really exciting! I
definitely recommend it.

Hi Maria

Do you remember me? Sorry I haven’t written sooner. It’s been a long time since we last
met. I’ve been really busy – but in a good way. Three years ago I got married to Ives, and
the year after that we moved to France. Have you ever been there? You should come and
visit us. I’ve got a new job with my own catering business now and I’ve never done so
much work in all my life! I am also a mum! My life has really changed and I am enjoying
every minute of it.

What are you up to? How are your parents and your brother? Have you moved from São
Paulo? Please say hello to everyone for me. It’d be great to meet up sometime, I really
miss you!

Write soon,

Kate
