Solution Overview 
The Industry Standard Solution for Plant Maintenance (ISPM®) helps companies in asset-intensive industries 
improve equipment availability and minimize hazards with high-quality equipment reliability data. High-quality, 
structured reliability data enable data-driven decision making and give companies better insight into equipment 
reliability and performance and thus better bottom-line results. ISPM methods are consistent with international 
standard ISO 14224:2016 Petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries -- Collection and exchange of 
reliability and maintenance data for equipment. 
ISPM is an SAP-certified add-on product for SAP Plant Maintenance. Reliability Dynamics is a licensed 
engineering company and an SAP-certified solution provider.

Implementation Approach 
The ISPM solution is used for accelerated deployment of ISO 14224 methods and related business content in 
SAP software. Business processes include technical hierarchy, malfunction reporting, preventive maintenance 
and inspections reporting, consequence accounting, reliability (RM) data quality management, RM data 
aggregation, corporate reliability metrics, and benchmarking. The ISPM Add-on is installed using the SAP Add-on 
Installation Tool (transaction SAINT). Technical hierarchy construction is completed using standard SAP LSMW 
tools.

Deliverables 
The ISPM Add-on includes system customization and master data content. Configuration is delivered via SAP 
Business Configuration (BC) Sets. Development objects are delivered via the SAP Add-on Installation Tool (SAINT 
transaction). Master data are delivered using the SAP Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW). 
Extended Equipment Class Taxonomy Definition Content 
ISO 14224 content in Annex A has been extended as follows: 
1. Existing classes in Annex A have been supplemented with schemata and other metadata as follows: 
1.1. Schemata for equipment subdivision, failure notations, and classification 
1.2. Value sets for characteristics 
1.3. Functional versus materialized relevancy 
1.4. All schemata and data are sized for relevant SAP fields 
2. New equipment classes have been developed in a manner comparable to that used for those in Annex A 
2.1. Reliability Dynamics is an expert member of the ISO 14224 work group developing Version 3 of the 
standard (ISO 14224:2016) and thus well-versed in methods for taxonomy content development 
2.2. Relevant equipment experts are consulted in development of all new equipment class taxonomy 
definitions 
All content is delivered in the customer SAP system as a combination of configuration and master data. Content 
delivered can be all or a subset of that specified in Annex 1: Equipment Taxonomy Inventory. Taxonomy content 
does not include field data gathering or population of field data values. 
Master Data Content 
Master data content includes: 
1. Class and characteristics 
1.1. Three classification structures for each of functional locations, equipment, and malfunction reporting 
(notifications) 
1.2. ISO 14224:2016 extended classification IDs organized hierarchically (Figure 5) 
1.3. ISO 14224:2016 general and equipment-specific characteristic sets, complete with units and measure 
and characteristic value sets 
1.4. Configuration of units of measure (UOM) and UOM conversions 
2. Boundary diagrams in document info records, linkedto technical objects via DMS

Baseline SAP System Customization 
Reliability Dynamics will complete system configuration after fit-gap is complete (baseline configuration 
specified in System Configuration 
Table 1) and install enhancements specified in Table 2. Configuration includes review of existing settings to 
identify potential conflicts and working with the customer to resolve those conflicts. Configuration is a 
combination of manual activities and BC Sets. Enhancements are delivered in Reliability Dynamics’ namespace. 
Reliability Dynamics recommends a minimum of the following three discrete work streams for maintenance 
processing. 
1. General work 
2. Malfunction reporting 
3. PM/Inspections condition reporting 
Each work stream should have its own notification and order type due to (1) differences of data required for 
each work stream, and simplification of reporting by capturing these data in discrete datasets. Reliability 
Dynamics will configure these for Customer as (notification/order type) M1/PM01, M2/PM02, M3/PM03 (unless 
otherwise instructed by Customer). 
ISPM enhancements use system-driven equipment reliability data quality assurance processes, including 
technical hierarchy consistency checking, custom user help (glossary text), transaction data validations, 
automated follow-on functionality, etc.

Enhancement Y This enhancement package is used to standardize 
equipment failure data collection. It is imperative to 
ensure proper objects are selected and a minimum 
failure data set is collected for each event. Examples 
include: 
· Ensuring malfunction reports are generated at 
the proper taxonomic levels (equipment or 
component), 
· Standardizing interpretations of key failure 
terms and definitions, and 
· Ensuring minimum failure data collection at 
different stages of notification processing 
 
Additionally, this enhancement package aids usability by 
defaulting field values where possible and by presenting 
checks collectively to the user (versus field-by-field in 
standard SAP). Data checks are user configurable by 
notification type, plant, and processing stage (initiation, 
change, and/or close). 
4. Multi-Level Failure 
Reporting (MLFR) 
Enhancement Y This enhancement is used to aggregate equipment 
failure data at the equipment class level and insure all 
required equipment-level failure data are captured, e.g. 
effect of failure, failure mode, and 
subgroup/maintainable item. Any failure events that 
occur within an ISO 14224 defined equipment boundary, 
whether reported at equipment or component levels, 
are aggregated at the equipment level. This provides a 
common viewpoint or "reporting level" for equipment 
that is used for compiling failure metrics.

Enhancement N This enhancement fixes breakdown metric reports MCJC 
and MCI7. Standard-delivered SAP PMIS breakdown 
statistical reports do not work for functional locations 
with installed equipment. Functional locations with the 
1:1 equipment install indicator set should be included in 
the data structure/PMIS reports and are not. There is no 
SAP fix for this defect at present. 
7. Hierarchical 
selection for 
functional locations 
Enhancement Y This enhancement allows you to return a list of 
subordinate functional locations for any given point in a 
functional location hierarchy. It is needed when the 
function location structure is extendedto the 
equipment/equipment component level and when 
"smart labeling" is not used. A functional location list is 
generated using the data relationship between 
superordinate and subordinate objects. 
 
Smart labeling is the practice of including the entire 
character string of the superordinate object in the 
subordinate object. It allows you to use a partial 
character string plus wildcard character to return a list of 
subordinate functional location objects. While simple, it 
is impractical because of the SAP field length limitation 
for the functional location ID field (30 characters 
maximum). 
8. Populate installed 
equipment into PM 
order header and 
subsequent 
notifications 
Enhancement Y This enhancement auto-populates the installed 
equipment ID in preventive maintenance order and 
notification header reference data when the 1:1 indictor 
is set on any given functional location master record. It 
is important to capture inspection data on both objects, 
not just the functional location. 
 
Frequency and scope of preventive maintenance are 
dictated by severity of service. Because of this, 
maintenance items should be assigned to functional 
locations, not equipment. Installed equipment IDs 
should be populated into inspection orders called by the 
plans, but cannot be included 
9. Notification 
hierarchy 
Enhancement Y This enhancement enables hierarchical relationships for 
notifications, e.g. native malfunction reports and related 
statistical FEL notifications, PM condition reports and 
follow-on/related malfunction reports, master data 
updates or engineering services done as follow-on to 
equipment malfunctions, etc. Users have the ability to

Terms and Conditions 
1. Development objects will be delivered in Reliability Dynamics namespace. This ensures no naming 
conflicts and is consistent with SAP Guidelines for Best-Built Applications. 
2. Changes to development objects will be limited to those required to ensure the development objects 
work as designed in the Customer environment and accomplish the functionality described as their 
purposes. No other enhancements will be made under this Job Order/Statement of Work. 
3. Customer will provide a primary point of contact for this project. 
4. Customer will provide Basis Team support for this project. The Customer BASIS Team is responsible for 
administering security authorizations. 
5. Customer will provide an ABAP Developer key to Reliability Dynamics for the purpose of completing 
steps detailed in the Installation Guide. 
6. Customer will provide access for Reliability Dynamics personnel to the Customer SAP development 
landscape and other systems as required. Customer will give personnel sufficient access and 
authorizations to execute their work, including all necessary authorizations in the development 
landscape and the production client. Authorizations in QAS and PRD should be identical and should 
include all required for creating and changing master data objects and executing LSMW data loads. 
7. Customer will provide business resources for User Acceptance Testing. 
8. Customer responsibilities 
8.1. Equipment class taxonomy definitions other than those specified in Section 0. 
8.2. Technical hierarchy construction, including creation of class overview groups. 
8.3. Change management and training delivery.

Annex 2: Intellectual property terms 
 
Schedule "X" to the Agreement between 
Client and Reliability Dynamics LLC

Reliability Dynamics’ Intellectual Property 
 
Client and its affiliates (collectively, "COMPANY"), has engaged Reliability Dynamics LLC (the 
"CONTRACTOR") to provide certain Engineering Services, which include providing to COMPANY certain work 
product and deliverables created and developed by CONTRACTOR as identified in Schedule “X” or specified in 
work scope proposals associated with this Consulting Agreement (collectively, the “Deliverables”). 
1. COMPANY acknowledges and agrees that all of the Deliverables provided by CONTRACTOR are based on 
proprietary methodology and confidential information that are the exclusive property of Reliability Dynamics. 
The ISPM and MLFR system solutions and methodologies are patent pending. ISPM and MLFR are trademarks of 
Reliability Dynamics LLC. Use of the ISPM and MLFR system solutions and methodologies are provided under 
direct license from Reliability Dynamics. 
2. Work Product & Deliverables. The Deliverables, including any parts or portions thereof, and any 
intellectual property rights therein, created or developed by CONTRACTOR and delivered to COMPANY pursuant 
to the Consulting Services will NOT be considered works made-for-hire, and will be owned exclusively by 
CONTRACTOR, unless otherwise specifically provided for and accepted by both Parties. 
3. License. Unless otherwise specifically provided for and accepted by both Parties, CONTRACTOR hereby 
grants to COMPANY and COMPANY accepts from CONTRACTOR a perpetual non-transferrable license to use the 
work product and the deliverables, and any parts or portions thereof, along with any underlying intellectual 
property and work product contained or incorporated therein, created or developed by CONTRACTOR and 
delivered to COMPANY pursuant to the Consulting Services. 
4. Treatment of Proprietary Technology. COMPANY acknowledges CONTRACTOR’s ownership and rights in 
certain proprietary technology, including but not limited to certain patents, copyrights, trade secrets and know-
how relating, and will not disclose, disseminate, distribute, sell, duplicate, reproduce, modify or otherwise 
transfer or transform any portion of such proprietary technology in any manner or medium without 
CONTRACTOR’s express written permission. 
5. Confidentiality. From time to time, CONTRACTOR may provide its own confidential business and 
technical information to COMPANY in connection with the Consulting Services. Such information shall be 
designated as confidential upon or prior to disclosure by CONTRACTOR. In addition, the preparation and 
specifications of any work product or deliverables created or developed by CONTRACTOR and delivered to 
COMPANY pursuant to the Consulting Services shall in all instances be treated as confidential, unless and until 
disclosed publically by CONTRACTOR. All confidential written material shall be marked with the legend 
“Reliability Dynamics - Confidential.” COMPANY shall use its best efforts to prohibit any use or disclosure of 
CONTRACTOR's confidential information by COMPANY and its agents and other consultants.
