1. Instalação do System Manager
 
Instalação do System Manager
Antes de instalar o System Manager, veri�que se o seu computador atende aos requisitos mínimos de hardware e software:
- Memória: 4 GB
- Processador: Dual Core / Multi-Core Processor
- Espaço em disco: 1 GB para instalação do programa 30 GB para banco de dados, logs, ferramentas, utilitários
- Exibe resolução de 1280 a 1024 , cores de 32 bits, 14 polegadas ou maiores (recomendado)
- Placa de interface de rede (NIC) de rede 100/1000
 
O System Manager suporta os seguintes sistemas operacionais:
- Windows Server 2008 ( R1 e R2 )
- Windows Server 2003 ( SP2 )
- Windows 7 Professional
   

Os seguintes componentes de sistemas operacionais também são necessários:
- .NET 4
- Redistribuíveis C ++ 2012
- Microsoft IIS
Os Redistribuíveis .NET 4 e C ++ 2012 são fornecidos com o programa de instalação do servidor imVision System Manager. Se
o programa de instalação não encontrar esses componentes no ambiente, ele será instalado.
O Microsoft IIS precisa estar presente, pois ele não vem com o software imVision, mas esse é um componente muito comum
em todos os ambientes OS listados acima.
 
O System Manager suporta as seguintes versões do banco de dados:
SQL Server 2008 (R1 e R2)
SQL Server 2005
Note: When installing System Manager, the Setup program will prompt user whether an existing SQL instance should be used or
a new SQL Server 2008 R2 Express instance should be installed as par of this installation.
 
System Manager User Interface can be accessed using any of the following Web browsers:
- Internet Explorer 8, 9
- Firefox 11, 12
- Safari 4, 5

Workshop: System Manager Installation
This workshop describes the process to install System Manager in a single computer that will hold both, the System Manager
application server and the SQL server and database. It will also assume that no SQL server instance is present so a new SQL
instance will be created as part of System Manager installation. This is just one scenario possible. Other scenarios are
explained in Lesson 5 webcast.
Before starting the System Manager setup program, check that IIS is enabled. To do this:
Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features
Select Turn Windows Features ON or OFF

Make sure that Web Management Tools and World Wide Services are both “checked” in the Internet Information Services
group. Click the OK button.

Download the System Manager installation package (zip �le). The �le is available in the download area of this Lesson.
SM7.0.SP3.0.2316a.20131113.zip contains a full installation package (note the letter "a" in the �le name). This package
includes the original release of System Manager plus all cumulative updates up to Service Pack 3 level included. If you have
not installed System Manager before in your computer please use this �le.
SM7.0.SP3.0.2316b.20131024.zip contains Service Pack 3 only (note the letter "b" in the �le name). Note that this is not a
complete install package, it is only an update to an existing installation. Use this �le to update an existing installation to
Service Pack 3 level.
In either case, please UNZIP the install package in a folder in your desktop or any folder of your preference. This folder can
be deleted once installation is complete.
Open the folder and run the setup program (setup.exe). It is recommended that you right click on the setup.exe �le and
chose the option Run as Administrator. Follow instructions on the screen
   

Accept the License Agreement Terms check-box and click the Next button.
 
   

Select the language and click on Next.

At the Key Code Window type or copy-paste the code for installation. Base Key consists of seven �elds each with �ve ASCII
characters.
You do not need to type segment by segment, you can copy/paste the ENTIRE license string.
Click Next to proceed.

Choose All components, this will indicate the install program that you want to install the Application server and also create
the database tables.
Note: the step to choose Components to install has been removed in newer versions of System Manager software and
always All Components are installed.
If you are installing SMv7.2 or later please disregard this step as it will NOT be shown.
Click Next to proceed.

The setup program provides all the settings with the default values.
Note the port 80 used, this is the default http port.
Note also the Application Name �eld, this is going to be the “name” of the web page the users browser will need to request.
For this workshop leave all values default and click Next to proceed.

In the next dialogue box the install program will give you the option to either install SQL Express that comes packaged or to
use an existing SQL instance.
Unless you have a valid SQL Server running in your machine and you know how to access it and what name the instance has
we recommend you let the setup program to install a new SQL Express instance to be used by System Manager. In this case
choose Yes, to Install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express.

This will open the SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup installation window. Click on Install button.
The process of setting up and building the database system tables takes some time.

Once the SQL Server instance has been installed the setup program will resume the System Manager installation process
and will pre-populate the Database Connection Setting window with the hostname/instance name automatically.
In this example the hostname of the computer used to install System Manager is COMMSCOPE-4 and the SQL Instance
name is SMSQL2008.
Select Windows Authentication to use your currently logged Windows User to login to the SQL Instance and be able to
create the database tables.
Click on Next.
   

The Installation is Complete. Your System Manager will be fully running after rebooting your computer to start all the
required services.
Click Finish to reboot. If a reboot does not start automatically after a few second just manually reboot the computer.

VERIFY YOUR INSTALLATION COMPLETED CORRECTLY
Verify that your installation is fully functional by clicking on the System Manager shortcut created in the desktop of the
server computer.
Login with username/pwd: admin/Admin1.
 
ABOUT SYSTEM MANAGER UPDATE PACKS
Different update packs can be made available over time to enhance imVision System Manager server functionality and/or
�x known issues. They are:

a) System Manager Service Packs: these software update packs are installed in the server computer to
enhance System Manager overall functionality, add new features and options and �x defects.
These service packs are only "updates", they do require System Manager to be already installed.
Service Packs can be installed one by one (SP1, then SP2, and so on) or you can install the latest one available
(they contain all cumulative improvements since the last major release)
b) SNMP Update packs: these update packs are installed in the server computer to expand the support of
SNMP enabled switches.
c) Report Update packs: these update packs include new standard reports or add enhancements to existing
reports.
The three types of update packs are included in the Software Assurance program and customers can downloaded them
from the imVision support page.
They are also included in the download area of different lessons of this training.
NOTE TO STUDENT: At this point, check for any update packs that may be available.
SNMP Update packs are explained in Lesson 25. If your switch is supported without the installation of the latest SNMP
update pack you don't need to install this update until the end of this training. It is included in workshop 25.5 for you to get
some practice. If you prefer to do it now, or if you tried to verify that your switch is supported and have had di�culty
synchronizing with it, please install the latest SNMP update pack NOW (refer to workshop 25.5).
