Source: https://www.ieltsindicator.com/ IELTS INDICATOR What? IELTS Indicator is an online test that can be taken from the comfort and safety of your home. The test includes four skills – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and you will receive an indicative score for each. Your performance will be marked by IELTS examiners and you will receive your result within seven days. The Academic test is available for a limited time while IELTS testing is currently suspended due to COVID-19. @teacher.casals IELTS INDICATOR When? IELTS indicator is online, so you can take it at home and stay safe – and it’s held once a week at a scheduled time. IELTS Indicator can be taken on any suitable desktop, computer or laptop with reliable internet access. The Listening, Reading and Writing parts of the test need to be completed in one sitting, with the Speaking test happening a few days before or after the other sections. @teacher.casals IELTS INDICATOR Equipment Minimun requirements: IELTS Indicator test uses a Safe Exam Browser (SEB), which can be installed and run on a Windows PC or MacOS. You will need to download and install a Safe Exam Browser (SEB) to conduct your Listening, Reading and Writing test, and you will need to download Zoom for your Speaking test. You will be sent instructions via email about how you can download and install these applications, before your IELTS Indicator test. You’ll need a camera and a microphone. You must have Administrator Privileges on your computer to install the SEB. You cannot install it as standard user. Administrator Privileges is also required to start, restart or close the SEB in the event of interruptions to the service. @teacher.casals IELTS INDICATOR Test Day The time window for the test will be strictly controlled, so each section will be time-bound. You need to complete the test in one sitting, approximately 2 hours 45 minutes. You cannot pause the test. For your Speaking test you will need to have your passport / identity document which you booked your IELTS Indicator test with, along with a paper and pen. You have to download Zoom video call application to your laptop or computer and ensure you have a web camera. @teacher.casals IELTS INDICATOR After the Test You will receive your results digitally within seven days of completing all sections of the test. You will receive an indicative score for each section along with an overall indicative score. Indicative scores will help you know how you performed and where you need to improve. Once testing resumes, your university or education provider may ask you to take the in-person IELTS, even if you have taken IELTS Indicator. @teacher.casals IELTS INDICATOR Checklist ❏ A quiet, comfortable and well-lit space to take your test on your own ❏ A laptop or desktop computer (Mac or PC only, you cannot take IELTS Indicator on a mobile or tablet device) ❏ Your computer meets the minimum and recommended system requirements ❏ A stable internet connection ❏ Speakers and Microphone on for the duration of the test ❏ Camera on and uncovered for the duration of the test ❏ The same passport or photo I.D. document that you used to book your test, with you for all parts of the test @teacher.casals IELTS INDICATOR Preparing for the Test ❏ Organize yourself and your studies ❏ Work on timing and exam format ❏ Find a community or a private teacher (like me) to help you better prepare for the test ❏ Do as many mock tests as you can ❏ Focus on your strengths ❏ Keep track of your scores ❏ Celebrate your improvements ❏ Write essays and seek feedback @teacher.casals
