Could any doubts arise about whether it has been intended, throughout the work, to praise or undermine any therapy used for the treatment of depression?
The objective pursued has not been to demonstrate the effectiveness of a specific therapy or to reject existing treatments, but to expose the need to work on the affective bonds of the depressed person, to establish them as the basis for any healing process. The author does not share the idea of those authors who reject any psychopharmacological intervention, as in some cases there is no other viable option. There are some treatment guidelines that can be extended to all melancholic patients, however, there are others that must be adapted to each specific patient.
