A histological preparation of the adrenal gland allows the observation of different structures and cells. With lower magnification, it is possible to observe the gland's capsule, which is a layer of connective tissue that surrounds it. With higher magnification, it is possible to observe the cortex and medulla of the gland. In the cortex, it is possible to observe the zona glomerulosa, zona fasciculata, and zona reticularis, which are responsible for the production of different hormones such as aldosterone, cortisol, and androgens. In the medulla, it is possible to observe chromaffin cells, which produce catecholamines such as adrenaline and noradrenaline.
