A Crise Iraniana de 1946 foi o primeiro grande confronto Leste-Oeste da Guerra Fria. A União Soviética ocupou o Azerbaijão no norte do Irã após a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Os objetivos da União Soviética no Irã eram principalmente garantir a influência política e econômica na região, além de buscar acesso aos recursos petrolíferos iranianos.
