a) The affected area may be slightly atrophic, with follicular ostia loss.
b) Both diseases exhibit lymphocytic inflammatory infiltrate involving the isthmus and infundibulum hair follicles.

d) The follicular epithelium shows exocytosis of lymphocytes, apoptotic and/or dyskeratotic cells, concentric fibroplasia around the inflamed follicles, and subsequent destruction of some follicles.
e) Perifollicular erythema, follicular hyperkeratosis, follicular ostia reduction, and absence of vellus follicles are significant findings for better diagnostic clarification.
