What are the three types of muscle tissue and their characteristics?
I- The smooth muscle is involuntary and is located in the skin, internal organs, reproductive system, large blood vessels, and excretory system. The stimulus for the contraction of smooth muscles is mediated by the autonomic nervous system.
II- The skeletal striated muscle is voluntary and is innervated by the central nervous system. The contractions of the skeletal muscle allow the movements of the various bones and cartilages of the skeleton.
III- The cardiac striated muscle forms most of the heart of vertebrates. The cardiac muscle lacks voluntary control and is innervated by the autonomic nervous system.

Existem três tipos de tecido muscular: 1. Músculo liso: é involuntário e está localizado na pele, órgãos internos, sistema reprodutor, grandes vasos sanguíneos e sistema excretor. O estímulo para a contração dos músculos lisos é mediado pelo sistema nervoso autônomo. 2. Músculo esquelético estriado: é voluntário e é inervado pelo sistema nervoso central. As contrações do músculo esquelético permitem os movimentos dos vários ossos e cartilagens do esqueleto. 3. Músculo cardíaco estriado: forma a maior parte do coração dos vertebrados. O músculo cardíaco não possui controle voluntário e é inervado pelo sistema nervoso autônomo.
