What are the symptoms of heat-related illnesses?

Being in a high temperature environment can cause physical and mental fatigue.
In dry air conditions, the human body can withstand atmospheric temperatures around 65.5°C for several hours, provided there are sufficient convection currents to promote rapid evaporation of sweat.
In conditions of 100% air humidity, the body temperature begins to rise whenever the ambient temperature exceeds 34.4°C and the person is performing a very heavy activity.
The excessive loss of water and electrolytes due to sweating causes painful spasms that affect the large muscles of the legs or other skeletal muscles; these spasms are called heat cramps.
Heat edema is the swelling of the extremities that often occurs in unacclimatized people exposed to a hot environment.
Heat syncope also results from peripheral vasodilation and reduced intravascular volume, but in this case there is orthostatic hypotension and loss of consciousness.
In more severe cases, when heat production exceeds the body's ability to dissipate heat, hyperthermia occurs, with heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
The common denominator of hyperthermia is the elevation of central temperature not linked to the action of pyrogens.
The prognosis of injuries caused by EHS is based on the duration of hyperthermia and the response to cooling.
The immersion in cold water or in an ice bath is a measure that promotes immediate cooling of the whole body.
It is extremely important to acclimatize people to extreme heat, especially in certain activities performed under conditions where the ambient temperature approaches body temperature and humidity reaches almost 100%.
