Your English is excellent and you are looking forward to make a good impression on your future (hopefully) boss. Now, you need to make sure that you also have the right type of English for that job interview. Objetivos Initiate and keep a conversation in a job interview; Talk about professional experiences. Job interview questions and answers The job interview in English contains speci�c questions and appropriate answers. It also requires certain �exibility in your usage of tenses. When you walk in the room the very �rst impression you make on the interviewer can have a great in�uence on the rest of the interview. It is important that you introduce yourself, shake hands, and be friendly. The �rst question is often a "breaking the ice" (establish a rapport) type of question. Don't be surprised if the interviewer asks you something like: • How are you today? • Did you have any trouble �nding us? • What do you think of the weather lately? Answer the question without going into too much detail. The language you use should be simple but polite, for example: How are you today? GOOD! I'm �ne, thank you, and you? I'm well, thank you. BAD. Try to put them in sentences. A job Offer - a formal request asking that someone accepts a job. A proven track record - evidence youVe been successful in the past in your area of work. A short list - a list containing the names of the most suitable people. An employment contract - a formal, legal agreement setting out what will be provided by both the employer and the employee. An opening- an available job. Application - the letter you send when you apply for a job. Appointments - dates and times when people will meet, but can also be used to mean that people have been given particular jobs. Bodies - organizations or �rms. Career ladder - The term "career ladder" is a metaphor or buzzword used to denote vertical job promotion. In business and human resources management, the ladder typically describes the progression from entry level positions to higher levels of pay, skill, responsibility, or authority. This metaphor is spatially oriented, and frequently used to denote upward mobility within a strati�ed promotion model. Because the ladder does not provide for lateral movement, it is assumed to be a singular track with the greatest bene�ts at the top. Contacts - people you know Who might be able to help you. Deadlines - the dates or times when certain tasks must be completed. Drive - the constant energy and determination to succeed. Human resources manager - someone Who employs people for a �rm, also known as a personnel manager. Industry - businesses that produce a particular type of product or service. Inventory - the number of items a store has. Job advertisements - publicity about jobs available. Journals - specialized newspapers or magazines. Position - job within a company, post. Press - the collecting and publishing or broadcasting of news; journalism in general; the entirety of media and agencies that collect, publish, transmit, or broadcast the news. Recruitment agencies - companies which have details of jobs and details of the people who might want them. Reputation - how other people feel about something, the opinion of other people. Resources - things and people which can provide useful information. Responsibilities - things that must be done. Resume - a summary of a person's work and education. Sorted - arranged in a particular order, e.g. putting the best CVs together. To be transferred - to be moved from one place to another. To handle - to take care of, to deal with. To jump on something - to do something immediately. To keep track of - to be aware of or notice something. To multi-task - to do more than one piece of work at a time. To oversee - to be the boss of, to make sure something is done, to supervise. To retire - to stop working, usually because someone has reached a certain age. To work on your own initiative - to make decisions about your work without having to wait for someone else to help you. Training schemes – a job training course.
