INTRODUCTION TO THE SERIES 
AN EDITORS FOREWORD 
The JAI Press serials in chemistry have come of age over the past several 
years. Each of the volumes already published contain timely chapters by 
leading exponents in the field who have placed their own contributions 
in a perspective that provides insight into their long-term research goals. 
Each contribution focuses on the individual author's own work as well 
as studies of others that address related problems. Each series is intended 
to provide the reader with in-depth accounts of important principles as 
well as insight into the nuances and subtleties of a given area of chemis-
try. The wide coverage of material should be of interest to graduate 
students, postdoctoral fellows, industrial chemists and those teaching 
specialized topics to graduate students. We hope that we will continue to 
provide you with a sense of stimulation and enjoyment of the various 
sub-disciplines of chemistry.
