It was about a week after the fire. Carter had talked to Mr and Mrs Denton, who had talked it to everyone that came into the shop.

He said he people were saying he’s killed his mother to get her money; made questions to Partridge about the death his mother if had a document to comprove it. So Partridge has told all the truth: he has known his mother. She has left him when he was six

A few days later, Partridge had been put in prison. And the police had dug up his garden, but they hadn’t found a body. Then he had been freed. It seemed that his strange story was true.
But Partridge’s mother was living in Liverpool, and had been in trouble with the police on several occasions. Two days before he was going to leave to Canada, in the early evening, someone rang his doorbell. It was a woman dressed in the clothes of a young woman, but her face
was old. She has apresentated to him, she was his mother. She has wanted he take her to Canada with him, that he look after her in her old age. But Partridge haven’t accepted her as his mother, because she was well diferent what he has thought. He has reminded she has left him in the past. She has been insisting, so His hands moved to her neck. They became tighter and tighter as he shook her.
He opened his hands, and the woman’s body fell to the floor. Partridge had really killed his mother now.
Next morning Humphrey Partridge went to the police station to confess to Sergeant Wallace that hehas killed his mother. And buried her body in the garden. But the policeman hasn’t took him seriously, because has comprove the contrary, that he was just telling a joke. And said that could go. To anywhere he likes.
