Educação Ativa Idiomas Professor: Wanderlei Gonçalves Verbo “there to be” (existir - haver) Usamos o verbo “there to be”, para indicar a existência de algo físico ou abstrato, com o mesmo sentido de existir ou haver em português. There is a book on the table. *Forma afirmativa - Presente There is / There’s - singular (existe - há) There are / There’re - plural (existem - há) *Forma afirmativa - Passado There was - singular (existia - havia) There were - plural (existiam - haviam) *Forma afirmativa - futuro There will be - singular e plural (existirá - haverá) Exemplos: There’s a dog in my house. Há um cão em minha casa. There’s a book on the table. Há um livro sobre a mesa. There’s some milk in the fridge. Neste caso “some”. There’s a cup of milk in the fridge. Neste caso “cup”. There are some books on the table. There are two books on the table. (contável) Há dois livros sobre a mesa. *Forma negativa - Presente There is not / There isn’t - singular (não existe - não há) There are not / There aren’t - plural (não existem - não há) *Forma negativa - Passado There was not - There wasn’t singular (não existia - não havia) There were not - There weren’t plural (não existiam - não haviam) *Forma negativa - futuro There will not be - There won’t be (singular e plura (não existirá / não existirão - não haverá / não haverão) Exemplos: There isn’t a dog in my house. Não há um cão em minha casa. There isn’t a book on the table. Não há um livro sobre a mesa. There aren’t two dogs in my house. There aren’t any books on the table. There isn’t any milk in the fridge. (incontável) Não há nenhum leite na geladeira. Você também pode usar “no”. There are no books on the table.
