Primeira sentença  longa  background  past continuous 
Segunda e terceira sentença  curtas  resultados  simple past 
Ex: Tom was walking (continuous) down the street when he saw (simple) jack and he said (simple) hello 
 
 
 
 
 
2º CASO: PAST CONTINUOUS  SIMPLE PAST: SEGUNDA AÇÃO INTERROMPEU A PRIMEIRA 
Ação que é interrompida  past continuous 
Ex: I was dancing (continuous) when mary called (simple) me.
