Although the methods to be used for teaching reading depend a lot on the teacher and the material he has on hand to carry out his work, some fundamental principles, pointed out by Bamberger (1995, p. 22-29), are also important. Among them, we can highlight the following: promoting readiness for reading at all levels; overcoming methodological dogmatism when teaching literacy; oral or silent reading in the classroom; individualized reading teaching at all levels of schooling; systematic training in reading achievement; selection of reading material for teaching. We can say, then, that:

I – All the principles mentioned are applicable only to the literacy process;
II – The principles are suitable and complement each other, according to the reader's development phase;
III – All principles achieve better results when thought of in an individualized way.
1. The items II and III are correct.
2. Only statement III is correct.
3. The items I and III are correct.
4. The items I and II are correct.
5. Only statement I is correct.
