The performance of textured ceramic tools (Al2O3-based) when intermittent turning of hardened AISI 1045 steel (44-46 HRC) was investigated by Cui et al. [15], who reported that highest process forces and temperature were recorded using the non-chamfered tool. Lowest forces and temperature were obtained using the texture designed considering the solid-like and liquid-like properties of the chip.
