The questions were elaborated following a supposedly logical order of answers, composing a questionnaire that was first tested for its functionality before being applied to real subjects who would participate in the research. The entire sequence of questions had the objective of enabling the researchers to understand how the interviewees would respond to a key question without knowing it: do you believe in the work you do? Our research proved that those who continue to work in the field still believe in what they do. From the sample we were able to reach, we identified that 81.25% clearly stated that they have great enthusiasm for the task they perform. Of the interviewees, 3% did not want to express themselves and only 15.72% said they were without sufficient incentives to continue in the area and that they only continued to work in print media because of the regularity of receiving their own salary, but that even so, their motivation was decreasing over the years due to various factors, including low pay, bureaucracy in production conditions, and limitations imposed on the area due to time, structure, and space conditions. Our initial hypothesis was therefore not confirmed. The interviewees who said they were still motivated by the activity said that this feeling of motivation comes from the taste they developed for the profession, the dynamics of day-to-day life, the feedback they receive from readers, and the knowledge that the profession provides to journalists on a daily basis. Each of these reasons would certainly warrant a timely reflection. For now, it is only important to emphasize that as a whole they outline the context in which a journalist would find motivation to work and indicate that this motivation would not be found only in one or another condition or experience. Of the interviewees who said they have motivation to continue in the field of print journalism, 42.30% cannot imagine themselves in another area; that is, almost half of them are truly fulfilled with what they do. Even though motivated, at least 57.7% of the interviewees already admit to imagining themselves working in another sector of journalism or already hold a position in another area of Communication. From this, our analysis results in the understanding that they are able to understand the processes of transformation in the job market as natural. Of those who have no motivation, only one cannot see themselves in another area outside of journalism. Motivated or not, professionals confirm that they keep up to date on changes within the profession, through courses, lectures, readings, and trips, in order to improve their functions. Even in crisis, all interviewees say they strive to do good journalism, which they name as a journalism governed by its public utility (in the opinion of 32% of the interviewees), impartiality (according to 22% of them), and ethics (for at least 16% of them). These data reinforce our understanding in the direction of the greater conclusion we have reached: in fact, the belief in the quality of what they produce is what drives professionals in the field to continue producing valuable journalism and to continue betting on work with print journalism. Deontological precepts continue to be strongly remembered by those who work in the field as signs of a job in which quality and professionalism are believed to be present.
