O processo EUI-64 é usado no protocolo IPv6 para gerar um identificador de interface de 64 bits a partir do endereço MAC de 48 bits de um dispositivo. Ele divide o endereço MAC em OUI (Organizationally Unique Identifier) e identificador de dispositivo, insere o valor hexadecimal FFFE no meio e, em seguida, converte os dois primeiros valores hexadecimais do OUI em binário e inverte o bit U/L (bit 7). O resultado é um identificador de interface de 64 bits exclusivo para o dispositivo.
