Many events similar to those that occurred in the former USSR disorganized Eastern Europe causing a wave of separatism, exacerbated nationalism, and ethnic and religious conflicts, long covered up or repressed. These events resulted in:


a) The reunification of the German nation, whose territorial and national units were broken after World War II.
b) The unification of the Czech and Slovak nations, with the implementation of the socialist model and the formation of the current Czechoslovakia.
c) The implementation of a socio-political-economic program, through which Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania proclaimed the formation of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
d) The coup d'état, supported by the Solidarity Union, which brought Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia back to real socialism.
e) The so-called 'Velvet Revolution', which elected writer Václav Havel as president of Albania, initiating democratizing political changes.
