Livro: Álgebra Linear -> Bases. O conjunto é L.I se gera o espaço e a combinação linear dos vetores do conjunto admite apenas a solução trivial.
\[{x_1} \cdot \overrightarrow {{v_1}} + {x_2} \cdot \overrightarrow {{v_2}} + \cdots + {x_k} \cdot \overrightarrow {{v_k}} = \overrightarrow v\]
Visto isso, dizemos que os vetores \(\overrightarrow {{v_1}} ,\overrightarrow {{\text{ }}{v_2}} ,{\text{ }} \cdots ,{\text{ }}\overrightarrow {{v_k}} {\text{ }} \in {\text{ }}{{\R}^n}\) são linearmente independentes (L.I.) caso nenhum dos vetores do conjunto puder ser escrito como combinação linear dos outros, ou seja, o conjunto é L.I. se \({x_1} \cdot \overrightarrow {{v_1}} + {x_2} \cdot \overrightarrow {{v_2}} + \cdots + {x_k} \cdot \overrightarrow {{v_k}} = \overrightarrow 0\) somente para quando \({x_1} = {x_2} = \cdots = {x_k} = 0\).
