English presentation- Guide
Bad Plastic
What is plastic and its constitution
Plastics are synthetic polymeric organic materials, of macromolecular constitution, endowed with great malleability (because they have the property of adapting to different shapes when subjected to heat and pressure conditions). They are produced by a chemical process called polymerization.
Plastics have the characteristic of high durability, which is advantageous for marketing, but harmful to the environment, as they take hundreds of years to degrade.
Plastic serves as raw material for the manufacture of the most varied objects: bags, towels, packaging, jewelry, clothes, straws, shoes, etc.
Most plastics are made from petroleum, a complex mixture of compounds.
Benefits of biodegradable plastic
1- Our biodegradable plastic will help in the regeneration of poor soils, since it is a material derived from organic raw material.
2- Due to the composition of this plastic it will be less harmful to nature, taking less time to decompose.
3- It reduces the risk to health, because as biodegradable plastic is not produced from petroleum, the risk of cancer and other serious diseases in humans and animals is reduced.
4- It does not pollute the oceans, as the illegal disposal of common plastic in the seas is responsible for wiping out much of the marine life on the planet (scientists estimate that if we continue to dispose of common plastic in these quantities by 2050 there may be more plastic than fish in the seas).
Good plastic
What is it?
We have created SoluPlastic, this is a plastic that dissolves easily in water. Moreover, after being dissolved, it can also be consumed to complete the degradation because it is harmless to humans, presenting no health risk.
this plastic takes only 5 minutes to dissolve. And it is a revolutionary material that looks and functions equivalent or better than the normal plastic.
If you throw a soluplastic into the sea, it will be quickly dissolved and because of this will not form pollution.
We want to start by creating soluble plastic bags called solubags and then create other objects, such as bottles, straws, and hospital supplies such as gurney covers and masks, which are generally single-use.
Our idea is applicable, comfortable and ecological we call it: ACE
Constitution?
Soluplastic are made from:
•polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) which is a water-soluble substance that does not contaminate the environment.
•limestone, used as a substitute for petroleum.
•starch
•cellulose
the combination of starch and cellulose results in a transparent material that distinguishes itself from other organic substances by being less water resistant and therefore biodegrading more easily in water.
Awareness?
During the entire presentation we talked about the negative impacts that plastic has in our planet. Our goal is to improve this or even end with this problem.
Since 1950, humanity has produced 8.3 billion tons of plastic.
Today the world produces more plastic objects than ever before, specifically 500 million tons according to Greenpeace.
One third of household waste is made up of plastic packaging. And about 80% of packaging is discarded after being USED ONLY ONCE!
The impacts of plastics on nature start with the extraction of primary materials and the production process, since plastics are mostly obtained from petroleum.
In addition, most plastics are not biodegradable, so the plastic waste we are generating now will be with us for centuries and will cause serious environmental problems.
It is estimated that 99% of seabirds will have ingested plastic by 2050.
It is necessary that we become aware of the consequences of our actions. we know that there has been a lot of talk about this subject, but the truth is that no method has been effective enough. And people, even though they know the problem, choose to completely ignore it. This cannot continue to happen, and that is why we decided to create soluplastic.
Would it really make such a big difference in your routine and daily life when using soluplastic? Of course not, everything would be the same.
Don´t forget: A BIG IMPACT, WITH A SMALL CHANGE
