SIMPLE PRESENT – TO BE 2 SIMPLE PRESENT – TO BE THERE TO BE – SIMPLE PRESENT THERE IS / THERE ARE ͫ There To Be = existir O Verbo ‘There To Be’ não necessita estar necessariamente vinculado à um sujeito. Ex.: There are many cars on the streets nowadays. There is é usado no singular. There are é usado no plural. Por serem derivados do Verbo To Be, eles seguem o mesmo processo de formação de frases Negativas e Interrogativas. AFFIRMATIVE Ex.: There is a good restaurant near here. (Há um bom restaurante perto daqui.) There are many cars here. (Há muitos carros aqui.) NEGATIVE Ex.: There isn’t a good restaurant near here. (Não há um bom restaurante perto daqui.) There aren’t many cars here. (Não há muitos carros aqui.) INTERROGATIVE Ex.: Is there a good restaurant near here? (Há um bom restaurante perto daqui?) Are there many cars here? (Há muitos carros aqui?) THERE TO BE – SIMPLE PRESENT THERE WAS / THERE WERE ͫ There To Be = existir Como você pode notar, o verbo “haver” em inglês, no passado, é formado da mesma forma que sua versão no presente, apenas trocando o verbo to Be para a forma do passado. SIMplE pRESENT – TO bE 3 Assim sendo: There is – There was Thera are – There were Assim como sua forma do presente, o Verbo ‘There To Be’ não está vinculado à um sujeito. Ele corresponde ao passado do verbo “haver” no Português. Por serem derivados do Verbo To Be, eles seguem o mesmo processo de formação de frases Negativas e Interrogativas. AFFIRMATIVE Ex.: There was much water in this lake in the past. (Havia muita água neste lago no passado.) There were many people ate the party. (Havia muitas pessoas na festa.) NEGATIVE Ex.: There wasn’t much water in this lake in the past. (Não havia muita água neste lago no passado.) There weren’t many people ate the party. (Não havia muitas pessoas na festa.) INTERROGATIVE Ex.: Was there much water in this lake in the past? (Havia muita água neste lago no passado?) Were there many people ate the party? (Havia muitas pessoas na festa?)
