ACTION EVAPOTRANSPIRATION ON TOMATO HEIGHT G. S. T. Fernandes (1), J. D. M. Vieira (1), E. A. Lima (1), L. C. Soares (1), M. V. S. Alves (1), D. V. Chaves (1) and R. F. Vogado(1) (1) Federal University of Piauí, Bom Jesus, Brazil (agrogabrielt@gmail.com) ABSTRACT: The objective of the execution of this study is to analyze the influence of culture evapotranspiration (ETc) at the height the tomato 'Sweet Heaven', under the climatic conditions of Bom Jesus, Piaui, Brazil. The experiment was conducted in a protected environment (greenhouse) using shading mesh 50% shading, the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), Campus Professora Cinobelina Elvas, in Bom Jesus - PI in the period from September to December 2015. Were analyzed 36 plants, distributed in a randomized block design , with the doses of biostimulant treatments ( 0.0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 , 10.0 and 12.5 mL L- 1 aqueous solution) with six replicates and one plant as experimental unit. The seeds of hybrid mini tomato Sweet Heaven, were sown in polystyrene trays (128 cells), filled with commercial substrate Tropestrato® using one seed per cell, on 09/18/2015. The plants were transplanted to plastic pots when presented final four to five leaves. Were analyzed 36 plants; they were conducted in a single stem (main stem) on the simple staking system, given its greater interaction with the atmosphere. The daily measurement of the maximum and minimum temperature (° C) was carried out using a thermo- hygrometer, three times (9:00, 15:00 and 18:00); the equipment was placed in the center of the oven at 1.2 m from the surface. Data on plant height (mm) were obtained from the stem base of the measure to the apical meristem of the plant with measuring tape, evaluations were performed weekly from fifty-nine days after sowing (DAS) and proceeded to 87 DAS, totaling five evaluations. The estimate of potential evapotranspiration (ETP) was performed using the method of Hargreaves & Samani (1985), and evapotranspiration of culture (ETc) the relationship between ETP and the crop coefficient (Kc) of tomato, and 0.94 (vegetative phase) and 0.74 (reproductive stage). The data were related by regression analysis using SigmaPlot software, considered the significance level (p ≤ 0.05) by F test. With the results obtained, it was observed that with increased evapotranspiration, has a smaller plant growth (R2 = 0.93) with regard to plant height. This fact occurs as a result of plant defense stomatal closure mechanism and, consequently, lower gas exchange and photosynthetic rate, ensuring lower availability of energy for vegetative growth, as the observed parameter. Thus, it is remarkable the importance of microclimate control and water availability , with a view to greater vegetative growth of tomato due to its higher CO2 assimilation and energy production.
