GETTING TO LEVEL 4 
 CLASS 08 – DESCRIBING PICTURES – TASK 
 
 
EPLIS PART 4 
1. Describe the picture in as much detail as possible. Remember to use “There is / 
are” as well as all the language from this class (“in the foreground/background”, etc). 
Check the 5 steps below. 
 
 
The 5 Steps to Describing a Picture: 
1. Start from the foreground (the most important information in the picture); 
2. Cover the other parts of the picture (on the left/right; at the top/bottom); 
3. Describe the background (if there is one); 
4. Remember to talk about the weather, damages to aircraft and airdrome, health of passengers and 
crew (Did anyone die? Was anyone hurt?); 
5. Optional: Talk about the consequences of the event (using “WILL + verb” or “BE GOING TO + verb”).
